I'm not certain but I think my wife freezes things like meat first and then wraps it. If anyone wants, I'll ask her later. She is the queen bee of using this thing and packs everything that can be packed. She doesn't leave it on the counter but in the cabinet below.
Yesterday we had long ago frozen blueberries that I know she froze first on a tray and then packed. In blueberry pancakes, they tasted perfect. She packs sliced and pre-frozen peaches off our tree and after a year in the freezer you would never know it. Nuts store especially well with these.
