Will it hurt to pull a skid steer?

The bypass screw on my PT1445 is on the VSP pump, and it opens the relief valves and lets fluid from the wheel motors cycle through the pump. for short distance.

Can you get an old car hood under the skid steer to help it slide easier?If not,stick some flowers and lace on it;-)

Thanks for all the replies. It is a 1974 M-700 loader. I'll look for a bypass, but I'm not sure I will know what I'm looking for. I moved it a few feet the other day when I was working on it, and I think I can move / skid it out of the way in low range with the tractor, I just don't want to do any more damage to it than it already has. If not, I like the idea of sticking some flowers and lace on it.

The only info I have on this was that the manual for my 1988 Bobcat 743 (sold last April) said not to tow the thing around.

one woudl assume there is some sort of bypass one uses to get the thing to roll. this cant be an odd thing to want to do.

my suggestion call your local bobcat dealer with your year/model and ask them.

I recently attended Gehl XPRT training in S. Dakota. You would be surprised at the lack of towing provisions on most brands of hydrostatic drives. You could replace the relief valves with plugs to achieve free wheel, but free wheel also means no brakes.

I wouldn't worry about brakes to much in south La. that area is flat as a pancake.

I like the skidding approach, put a 2x12 under each side and slide it out of there.

Man I sure miss the good food down there.

A short hose connected the ports on the hyd motor, would allow the motor to act as a pump and just cycle fluid through each motor. If the hyd motors are old/worn, there might be enough bypass to tow slow, and not damage anything.

If they are tough enough to take enough torque to spin the tires on concrete. It'd be tough enough to drag you anywhere too.

I can't imagine it hurting anything. However, I like the heavy duty visqueen idea. Heavy duty slip and slide lol.
