Pole Barn For My Equipment

Had the farm 5 years next month and seems I have spent most of that time recovering from 3 Left foot surgeries, 2 Right knee scopes/cleaning and finally could not take any more pain so here I sit with my new Right knee and a lot of staples with ANOTHER long recovery ahead.
Enough with the bad times. I decided to get my equipment under a shed BEFORE knee surgery and I bowed up and got it done! Started by scraping all the topsoil and clean up debris.
Need about 30yds of fill for 40 x 40 Shed

After the pad was roughed in, had to head home for a Memorial Day weekend with my kids in USAF at Augusta, GA (Brad married Collen who is active duty USAF in April this year) Had a great time BUT there was at least 6" of rain in 4 days there. So when I got back to the farm, had a big wet place all around the Barn footprint.

Might as well build a good pad all around the barn and get the drainage taken care of.

Took over 100 Yds to get it like I wanted!!

Isn't it amazing how much dirt it takes to accomplish anything?

Nice looking pad, you'll never regret taking the extra steps making it perfect right from the beginning.

After shopping for a good supplier, I went with Reeds Metals in Tupelo, MS. Home :: Reed's Metals
They were easy to deal with and changes prior to delivery were easy, I had wanted a 40 x 50 Pole Barn but could not make it fit the site and stay away from a drainage ditch and have enough room in front to maneuver truck/trailer through the circle drive. Finally went with 40 x 40 and placed order.
Reeds was able to deliver in 2 weeks but I held them off until I could line up a Contractor to erect it prior to my knee surgery. I did not want the material, especial the wood, laying on site waiting on installation. Reeds connected me with a very competent man that promised a install date 1 week before surgery, that's too close for comfort.
I trusted Reeds and Brandon, against my better judgement, to both deliver on time.

Reeds offered free delivery and site unload service with nice equipment and professional driver, Jerry, who was very polite, skilled and easy to work with.

Material arrives right on time!

It is amazing how fast a trailer load of dirt becomes a few inches over a small area!
Then gets even thinner with a 2K# roller

The crew was scheduled to start Sat AM June 4, So Delta and I came over on Friday PM. Ran into a little rain south of the farm but forecast was thunderstorms till mid morning Sat.
Well, it rained Friday night after midnite with lightning and high winds so bad that I considered trying out the old storm shelter if that trailer rocked much more!
Next morning with 3/4" more rain on top of what we already had that week, the site looked like a small pond.

The crew showed up and drilled holes/ set poles and started the trusses by lunch.
