Mahindra Max28xl
Hi all, I posted a wile ago in the LS forum thinking I was going that way and I would of, it all came down to price. I am new to the compact tractor world and have nothing to go just what i read and the questions I ask. Any way i put a deposit on a Max 28XL Hydro with a 120 hrs. bucket and backhoe. The only thing I'm a little concerned about, and I don't know why, there is no mid pto? Other then a snow blower of belly mower is it handy to have? I hope to get down to pick it up this week sometime. Thanks in advance for answering my questions...

Welcome to TBN....................

Congrats on your purchase.
I went the other way a couple years ago and bought the LS for the same reason, price.
I don't have a mid PTO on the LS but it is an option. I had a mid PTO on my previous tractor, a Mahindra, and never used it the 10 years I owned it. I figure I'll probably never need it on the LS. I built a quick attach PA snow plow, have a QA snow pusher box and the bucket for snow removal and have no need for a mid mount mower.
Post pics when you pick it up and change your tractor in your avatar.

Had a mid PTO on my first tractor. Used it only with the MMM. When I got the next tractor I opted for no mid PTO and rear mower which worked fine. (Then replaced with a zero turn as it's simple faster).

Since giving up the mid PTO I have never needed it or missed it.

Some others may beg to differ but thats my experience.

Thanks! Thats great to hear about the mid PTO. I looked for pics for the dealer and tractor house but they are down already. I got the tractor FEL and backhoe for $16,900 From what I seen I think I did ok??? I have to go about 2 1/2 hours across PA to get it but thats how it works... thing are never in the back yard! I really liked the XJ2025 and how I didn't make a mistake. But the best price I found on that with a hoe was $19,000 and I think that is a great deal, but I saved $2000 and get a little bigger machine although it is used. Now I need to upgrade my 5x10 Big Tex trailer to at least a 14' that will handle 3100# That will be another post question! Most trailer seam like the 2900 gvw and jumps up to 7000# Anyway please let me know what you think about the deal i made... (good or bad) Thanks Scott

I hoping to get a rear finish mower to do around the edge of the property. But that might be a couple of weeks. We have 50 blueberry plants to mow around so I hope that will work better then a MMM to get back under the bushes.

I made a 10 hour trip to PA (5 each way) to buy a 7K tilt bed trailer 10 years ago in order to save $1500. No tilt beds were in my back yard for a good price. I don't think you'd go go wrong buying a 16-18' 7K double axle trailer for your Max28. Prices are pretty reasonable down there. I've since outgrown that trailer and now have a 14K 22' tilt bed. IMO you made a good deal. I'd have stayed with Mahindra but one similar to my LS was 5.5K more. I bought some nice attachments with that difference.

Thanks for the input George. The salesman told me about a place right down the road from them that has good deals on trailer so I have to call them Mon. and see what kind of deals they have. Metzler trailer?? I never heard of them, but i do run Metzler tires on my Harley! I got a quote for $2.00 a loaded mile but thats about $500... I will put into a trailer then I will have it. My utility trailer is 3 years old but like new so i hope to get some money out of that to help. The wife just walks away when I say about buying a trailer now, but if I need to move it, I want to be do it with out kissing someones butt.
