Patrick Henry spoke as a radical fighting against the British after living under their yoke for decades. Very reasonable concern for founding fathers to be concerned about usurpation of civil power by military and repressive government. However after more than two hundred years without a single government that tried to tear up the constitution or bill of rights it seems that those temporal concerns were a tad over wrought. There has NEVER been an incident where civilians with guns out down a wayward US government and it is silly to continue to raise the specter of British troops or their equivalent depriving us of civil rights. We VOTE not shoot to maintain our freedoms.

It seems to me that the paucity of violence between civilians and governmental authority is mostly the result of planning on the part of the founding fathers...in other words, our government is working the way it is supposed to. However, it seems to me that the radical liberals are perverting the system by "willing" their interpretations, their agenda and their wishes into the system, e.g., Executive Orders; A.G.'s interpretations. The North/big cities are again forcing their will on Southern/rural America.

Another aspect is the fact that civilians ARE armed and DO present a formidable threat if and when the government gets out of control. I concede that they are ordinarily not a that serious of a threat against a Bradley or an A-10 Warthog, but not all conflicts are won by superior armament. Ruby Ridge and Waco were a disaster for both combatants; the government may have won the battle, but the repercussions are still being felt...the government did not come out of these conflicts unscathed. I wonder sometimes how the Civil War would have progressed if the South had been disarmed and every union solider had remained loyal...I suspect it would ended before it started.

Why is it that the 2nd Amendment, Law Enforcement and the NRA are the bad guys? Why not the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments and the NAACP? BLM?

The NRA does exactly what gun control groups like Mom's demand action and Everytown for Gun safety
do - it lobbies congress. How many times have you heard a gun control group propose voting out representatives that dont vote for gun control? It's the same darn thing, pot meet kettle.
It's not a danger to democracy - you just dont like it because the NRA protects gun owners from, well, people like you.

Yep, it is people like IT that my money goes to fight.

yet another example of people spouting off and wanting us to give up stuff based on their ignorance.

It amazes me that so many people think that the NRA is a bunch of people, sitting in an ivory tower somewhere, bought off by the gun mfgrs, telling us gullible people what to believe.

They just can't grasp that the NRA is us ! It's 5 million people, believing in the way the Constitution was written and telling the people, that we pay, to go and fight for US. We are the NRA and they are our representatives AGAINST the idiocy of gun grabbers and anti freedom jerks. We pay them to do our bidding, they do not tell us what to believe.

And as I say in my sig line, I challenge anyone:

"Show me any gun law, past, present or future, that would have prevented any of the mass shootings in this country."
