USED OILS

   / USED OILS #11
Every state and community is different. Texas doesn't allow the sale or use of waste-oil burners/heaters. None of the dumps around here will take it. They won't even take oil filters if they see them. Most oil change service centers and auto parts stores will accept used oil with some volume limits. Best to check around locally. Or return it to the earth and pour it down a gopher hole. :)

I hope you're kidding about pouring in the ground ...

Back when I was young and we had more dirt roads than now the state would spray used motor oil diluted with diesel for the dirt roads. That was back in the 60's.

Yep, and we did oil changes by pulling off in the woods at the farm and popping the plug.

What do you think people did before Walmart? At one time it was a socially acceptable practice, even encouraged.

I can only imagine how much water that contaminated the next time it rained.

With so the options that we have available there is simply no excuse for simply dumping oil on the ground anymore. Simply enter your zip to find a locaiton.

Do you realize how many cars and trucks that are on the road that leak oil. I would guess millions . Unless your drinking out of the ditch bank chances of it getting into the water supply are slim. I use old oil for several things including burning brush piles pouring on top of post , treating trailer floors. painting it on equipment for storage . why would I give it away???
