.... they freak out when they see a rifle by the back door.


.... they cry because the cat kills the chimpmunk they were feeding.

.... they don't know enough to stay out the poison ivy.

.... they can't sleep at night cause its too dark and quiet.

.... mom has a fit cause her little one got dirt on his clothes while playing with the dog.

City folks think the deer in my fields are cute. I see dinner meat on the hoof.

My BIL and his son come over one time; I was in the barn cleaning it out. My nephew said it stunk really bad inside the barn with a wrinkled up face. I just laughed and said welcome to the country. I thought it smelled perfect - - - just like cow poop!
It's worth pointing out my BIL would give his left nut to live where I do.

I went to school in pittsburgh and its amazing how much you miss being able to pee off the back deck of the house or the smell of fresh manure being spread in a field. Whats even funnier is the looks people give you when you tell them that you miss it! :thumbsup:

One of my elderly Farm neighbors to the east of me has these old plywood family of bears cutouts placed back in one of his fields 100 yards from the road. My city brother in law and family drove past it to visit me and came running in with family in tow to avoid being ravaged by bears....I explained to him they were just plywood. He took is car down and checked , and still swore they were real. He kept his family close to my house all weekend daring not go to the east. I still kid him about that !

Along the main road going into Shelburne vermont, there used to be cutouts of Buffalo and a moose up on a hill over looking the road. Had more then one relative from the city mention they saw a moose and buffalo on there way from the airport

My wife and I both grew up on farms, live rural now, but don't farm. My wife chaperoned alot of high school band trips. When they went past a feedlot and the kids complained about the smell, she reminded them that is the smell of money to the farmer.. We always laugh when folks build downwind from farming and then complain when the dust is kicked up when farmer is working field or the pigs smell...

When the kids were little we bought a tent trailer to use up at the gold mining claim. Older daughter took along a little friend one weekend. We couldn't get her out of the trailer. "There's so much dirt out there!"
