Well he pressure tested the coolant system and all is well. The last leak ended up being foam that had soaked up antifreeze and was seeping out and getting on the charge cooler. Tomorrow im strapping the bush hog to the back and actually do some work with it, we shall see what happens.

Sounds like my story. Told the salesman I won't keep my POS one day after the warranty has ended. Unfortunately I will most likely stay with deere but step up to a 5100e

Brett

This is my 4th john deere utility tractor, ive also owned 2 subcompacts. Until the last fiasco, I had had zero issues with any of them, the 5205 I had for 8 hard years, replaced an external clutch pedal spring and that was it, all others no issues. Maybe my last one was a fluke, and honestly alot of this tractors issues were dealer inflicted. The biggest reason I stay with JD is they stand behind what they sell, my case is an example and they fill voids in tractor sizing no other manufacturer does. Im crossing my fingers and see how it goes. If its junk I will be the first to let it be known on this site.

I know on my 5055E some of the coolant hoses had to be tightened about four or 5 times before they stopped leaking or at least it looks like they quit leaking. The dealer came out once to tighten hoses. Some of the leaks where showing up when it gets cold out. The engine and the older 9x3 transmission is a old design that has been proven and been around for a long time. I know on the 5400 I used it had 5,600 hard use hours. The 5310 had over 3,000 hours. Both had bucket loaders on them and where very reliable machines. Deere should get rid of the cheap stickers, the cheap hoses/clamps, the cheap battery, and beef up the QA. Also what about the heat issues from the transmission?? That was not an issue on there other machines of that size in past by Deere. I know some of this stuff has changed on the TIER4 machines but sounds like not much.

I thought the heat issues were on open station tractors only? I never experienced the heat thing. One thing I can say is this tractor has a good brake pedal on the first pump, not the normal faded first pump then firm second pump both my others had. I also asked a question as to emissions, mine is a 2015 and is an interem tier 4 with dpf only,2016's are final tier 4 and will have dpf and def.

I think the heat issue is mainly related to open station tractors. I was just referring to the 5055E tractors in general and just not the new ones that came out this year.

Mine has been split twice now and to the dealer countless times for many issues. They still haven't fixed a problem in 3rd and 4th gear that I have been complaining about since it was a year old.
I got the tractor back 2 weeks ago, still not fixed and they said they couldn't find the problem and don't know how to fix it so it's my problem now, they give up. Called John Deere NA and they said they would talk to the dealer and offer a solution. The solution they came up with is I trade in my tractor PLUS $35000 cash for a 5100e! Absolutely not!

I called John Deere NA again today and they said that is the end of the line, they won't do anything for me. I said are you sure? She said she was going to call the rep for my area and call me right back. 5 hours later I am still waiting for her to "call right back".

I don't know what happened to John Deere in the last few years, it's bad enough that the quality has gone down but now they don't even stand behind their product.

This is almost exactly what has happend to my husband. He is fixing to trade for a red one. What is a John Deere NA? He has not called the 1 800 number for JD but the Rep and dealership has basically said it is the end of the line. We bought this tractor May 2015 started having problems with it June July 2015 they said we could trade up and pay 3500 we said no its a month old we will not pay anything. They gave us 5 yr or 5000 hrs JD warranty with is a crock since it has a 200 deductable each time it is brought in for warrenty work. So far still under factory warranty I think it has 600 hrs on it as of now but the Dealership servicing has put on probably 200 of those hrs since they have had it almost every month since we bought it. So the sales man that sold it to us basically lied (he has been there for problably at least 10 yrs. Then the manager of the dealership doesn't want to fool with it and is hardly there because he has vertago alot. The owner of the dealership does not even think he owes us the time of day. I am not sure where to go next cause he has talked to the rep and he has acknowledged there is something wrong with it but said that they are basically fixing to throw up there hands and say I am done. I think JD should make it right. My husband has given them a good amount of business from referals and is a loyal customer when he is done right he would have been a life long customer but now he is pretty much done with JD unless they do something to make this right however I am not holding my breath on this.

Mines been split atleast 2 times at 256 hrs. Huge pos. Been in the shop for last two months. I hate it and wish I had gotten a bigger one made in USA or another brand. Dealer has been good but still very frustrating.

John Deere na is North America

Thank you for answering that. So does that mean he called the 1 800 number or there HQ or are we just SOL on this.

When you call HQ all they do is pass the info on to the dealer and do nothing else. I traded mine in for a Massey 5612, cost a bit more but it's 10x the tractor. My 93hp deere could lift 3300lb on the 3 pt hitch, the MF will lift 10,000, the Massey will also shift through all gears and ranges automatically and is 100% programmable. So much more capability and features for 20% less than an equivalent deere.

The big JD dealer here (13 dealerships I think) is in rough shape because they have lost so much business in the last few years. A huge number of big farms that used to run all green have switched to New Holland, Massey and Fendt.

My cousins all have Fendt... they really like them... too rich for me.

What I am seeing is more Kubota Orange in the field... even among those that said Kubota was a boutique line that would never be a threat to the big players.
