Such power! Makes my old 67 HP Mercedes 240D sound like a dog. oh wait! It WAS a dog.

Truckpull is slightly different in Holland. Friends of mine replaced the 1.6 diesel in their VW T3 with an ALH, using a 12mm fuel pump off an Iveco 2.8 turbodiesel. Welded diff, duals and cut threads.Ahh. The lovely ALH motors. Love those 90 hp oil burners.
I'd estimate my 3500hd Duramax uses about a gallon per 1000-1200 miles.
On original subject - keep us updated on the 2.8 Duramax, sounds like a good balance of power/fuel mileage.
My ALHs are just mildly modded and the wife's car dyno'd at 250+ ft-lbs and 118hp. That torque figure is more per-liter torque than a new Dodge-Cummins! And, we're averaging over 50mpg (in both cars; I'm just shy of 52mpg over the last 10 tanks- that's over 7,500 miles!). If the newer diesels didn't have to be so heavily burdened by emissions stuff, and if the vehicles were lighter, they'd be even more impressive.
I hope that GM can help stave off the attacks on diesels.
Compact engine, excellent torque output and fuel consumption. Can't imagine why the corn lobby had the Extra Profit Always folks outlaw them ?
Govt knows the answer, When Results Matter. A lot of the latest US Mil light platforms under eval are diesel-electric. Go Figure.

Need the high output electrical capacity for future upgrades with high electrical demands. Also less trouble with three turbines operating two or three three prop motors instead of using a gearbox.
