Pay at the Pump With Cash

I always pay cash.I really enjoy the idiots who pay with there debit/credit cards for a donut & coffee every morning.
So everyone who doesn't carry around a pocketful of cash is an idiot? Loose your wallet and you are out whatever cash is in it, get mugged, same thing.
I use my debit for almost every purchase although I do carry a few bucks in my wallet also. I usually keep enough cash to buy enough gas to get me home should my debit card not work. I did have that happen once when my bank cancelled it due to unauthorized use by someone who had stolen the number and was using it in Houston Texas. They didn't notify me either and it took a week to get a new one. At least I want out for any of the purchases.

There's a big difference in a pocket full of cash and enough cash to buy a donut and coffee.

Put me in with the idiots. I use a debit card at the gas pump because it is 10 cents a gallon cheaper, otherwise a credit card on everything. I pay it off a couple times a month, or immediately for a large purchase, to keep interest charges close to zero. I keep enough cash in my wallet to deal with stuff that might come up. And to make sure I have change for parking meters. I think cash is increasingly an anachronism, like painfully writing out a check in the grocery line.

Don,t put words in my mouth(I did not state everyone who doesn't carry around a pocket full of cash is a idiot) why in the H-ll folks don,t have $2.50 in there pocket for a cup of coffee and a donut is beyond me.I often wonder what debit/credit card users would do if we had some type of Major power outage or solar flare.Might be fun to watch..

Cause all the donut shops will still be open in a major power outage because they don't use electricity for their ovens and fryers...

But man, I do love donuts! :licking:

I rarely have cash on me. Like even a dollar. I took $40 out of the ATM the other day because the bait shop doesn't take credit cards. :confused3:

Its the last one in town. Two towns, now that I think about it. When I was a kid, there were probably a dozen bait shops in the two towns. Now there's just one, and the guy just died! His former wife is running the store now until they sort things out....

But its 9 miles from my house. There's one about 10-12 miles in a town north of here and another about 15 miles south of here. Once you add up the gas and bait, you got $15 in your 3 bluegill.

I charge a $0.75 cent drink at the station. I don't care. Now a days with the signing limit in the $40 range its just as fast or faster to pay with a card. Swipe and go, no waiting for them to open register or count change. Plus like I said I get a discount. it may only be 1.5% on some cards but that adds up at the end of the year. If I paid for everything in cash or check that I charge I would HUNDREDS of dollars poorer ever year.

A small business will almost always give you a cash discount. It cost them 3% credit card fees. Sometimes they might not charge you sales tax. They're more likely to negotiate if you're paying with cash. I've seen some gas stations advertising a lower cash price.

Good for you, enjoy your discount..Around these parts its not swipe and go.It,s more like sign the receipt. What I am seeing now locally you need at least a $3 bucks to debit/charge anything.Baby steps..laffin
