How's your hand strength.

I'm going though hand physical therapy right now due to a compound fracture on my two left fingers (ring and little).

As part of the baselining process, the therapist had me use an hand grip machine. Did the right, recorded it. Did the left,(much less due to the broken fingers0 recorded it. I asked what's the highest she ever sees and she immediately said 130 lbs. I redid the right hand and it measured 130 right on the nose. She was pretty impressed since the normal for a 61 year old male is around 70 or so.

She's probably gonna make me scream like a little girl tomorrow am......

Those physical therapists are brutes! :laughing: I had therapy for my back, neck and shoulder several months ago. My therapist was maybe 110lbs. She could put the leverage on you like you wouldn't believe.

Dude! Now you've gone and created EXPECTATIONS! How could you have been so responsible? Talk about a setback. :thumbsup:

Good luck on the PT. It's work but well worth it.

I'll join in, having never heard of the bathroom scale method. Since our scale is 50 years old, I don't have digital/electronic problems. Now my thumbs joints hurt off and on and I'm 5'3" @148 lbs.........I got a 73 lbs. Sounds good, but I still can not turn most pickle lids.....and other chores. Such is life at 84 yo.

When we get older, it is not so much the strength as it is the pain!:shocked:

I doubt it. If she did, my hand wouldn't hurt so bad after her "therapy"!

About a month ago I didn't realize that I had bumped a 30ish year old gentleman in my local watering hole while ordering a drink, but the guy made a fuss about it and he threatened me. I grabbed his right hand with my right hand and began to squeeze. As I squeezed, I told him that I heard him threaten me and that I was willing to forgive and forget so long as he promised to never ever, ever threaten anybody ever again in our watering hole. Wisely, the young man throttled back.

I currently pump out around 160 pounds with my weaker right hand (I'm left-handed) on one of those hand dynamiters. I know this because I have carpel in both hands from a lifetime of grabbing junk.
