What are the reasons for NOT using Cruise Control?

The problem here seems to be that some don't understand that we have some VERY SPECIAL people here.
The convenience of others just isn't a concern of theirs.
When on the hiway, they are the ONLY one that counts & YOU should just back off & wait for them to do whatever they please.

Blocking and obstructing traffic is making the world safer because it forces you to slow down.

If someone tailgates me I just touch the brakes a little. Makes them back off every time!

And shortly thereafter right back to tailgating in my experience. I was going up a grade during a snow fall, conditions slick, guy right on my rear. I fishtailed a couple times and he backed off but as soon as I was straightened out again he was right back on me.

What "maintenance" would you suggest be done to a BRAND NEW CAR that would give it the extra horsepower to pull the hills? LOL

I would like to know just which modern car cannot maintain highway speed without WOT. I have driven clunkers, new cars, used cars, foreign cars etc all my life and haven't run into one yet Earliest learner was a 34 Chev 1 1/2, Then a 37 chev in HS in the mountains of Idaho. Both those clunkers had no problem with the canyons and ridges or the open highways.

Even drove a 72 Volvo PV544 on the german autobonn in the 60s without a problem keepign up with traffic. Some of the hills on those roads were 6 and 7%

I do this, and as long I'm at (usually above) the speed limit, and it go's on for too long, I stab the brake's for all they got with both feet and watch them go under my "not playin" structural steel bumper. Someone's got to teach them.

I try to be considerate. But aint gonna run my car hard just to make someone behind me happy.

I dont do whatever I please. Its pretty routine actually. Gain a few extra MPH before a hill, where its easy to do so. Which allows me to not have to tromp on the pedal on the uphill. Lots more efficient, and easier on my car. Anyone who has ever followed truckers towing loads knows just what I am talking about.

Whomever is behind me is welcome to do in kind, and enjoy some fuel savings themselves. OR they can just leave their CC set. Either way, I am not a hindrance to traffic, and in no way am I blocking or otherwise obstructing traffic.

The ONLY time my driving style becomes problematic, is when the trailing car WRONGFULLY interprets my acceleration. And think I am speeding up permanently. When they make this ERROR in assuming they know what I am doing.....those behind THAT person pays the price. Perhaps on the next hill they will learn their lesson?

So again, it all goes back to what I keep saying......for those of you that run CC exclusively, why do you feel that maintaining a constant distance is more important than maintaining a constant speed? Because if you are following me and maintaining a constant speed......Sure, you will notice me speed up, slow down, maintain, etc. But I am not gonna interfere with your constant CC setting at all. The only time you will be interfered with is if you feel the need to constantly play with your left thumb to maintain a constant gap. And if you do that following me....your left thumb is gonna get a workout. But thats your fault and not mine.

You must have had a deer run out in front of you;)

That's appropriate in my book as long as you aren't in the left lane can can move right instead of regulating traffic.

....

Anyone following me on these relatively flat areas, and sets their CC accordingly.....and DONT FIDDLE with it, I am not gonna cause you grief. I will speed up in anticipation of that hill, putting distance between us, so my slowing while going up it DOESN'T effect you. If you take that as a sign to speed up yourself, don't be pissed when we slow back down normal speed

So, in summary, stop worrying about my speed fluctuations and style of driving. Instead, if you were focused on maintaining a constant speed yourself, none of the drivers behind YOU would have to suffer from your mistake of trying to maintain a constant distance.

Again....

The guy behind you wants to go faster than you. That's how he caught up to you in the first place. He sees you speed up, thinks "YAY!" and he speeds up... then you slow down. You're the one causing the grief by varying your speed.
