Wow, that didn't take much at all to tip it back. Could have flattened someone like a pancake. Nice video!

I've got about half a dozen cherry trees with rootballs similar to that, but a lot deeper holes and less wide as yours. I've left the trees on them for now, but the plan for me is to use the FEL to fill in the holes before I cut them off so there's no place for them to tip back into. You can't do that so easily with your rocky terrain. Ours is all sand and gravel.

Sure were clean looking rocks under that tree when the roots took up all the soil. Very nice safety video.

I'm surprised that one didn't topple back on its own when the tree truck was cut off the roots. THAT can be another death trap.

Yes here is lots of rocks and usually those thumps tip back by it self.. but this one doesn't...

Great work! Was it to tight to get to it with your big tractor?
If you had stacked a couple of pumpkins under your death trap before tipping it over....That could have been cool.

Thank You, that terrain around on stump is quite hard and very narrow lines so I decided use My backhoe for this... that pumpkin idea... I have to make it sometimes in future.. Thanks..;)

I had about 8-9 oak root balls like that in my friends woods. They weren't quite as tall but had more dirt on it. I read a couple stories of kids getting crushed by playing in those holes when the root ball falls back when the stump is cut. I cut them off when I knew nobody was around and it dropped with a big thud force was incredible.

I never saw one fall back towards the direction of the tree and probably was careless in that regard. I should have had the FEL against it to keep from falling toward the tree.
