What's sickening to me is that our government bailed out GM then they turn around and turn themselves into a Chinese company sending jobs and money to them sneaky b*****ds. How much money did Ford receive for bailouts? I'm not a Ford bandwagon fan but the more I think about it........

NONE...

Anyone that reads and sees things with comprehension.

Link?

I was reading this article and it made it seem like Honda has the most cars on the most american made cars list.
The 216 Cars.com American Made Index | Toyota Wins Domestically

Honda had the most cars on the list—the Accord, Odyssey, and Pilot. The Detroit Three--Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler--didn’t crack the top five. The Chevrolet Traverse was #6, GMC Acadia #7 and Buick Enclave #8.

CRAP!!! you all ain't gonna believe this. I have 80K on my truck and shortly after my post above, my truck started to intermittently sound like a diesel at low rpm and then the oil pressure would drop to zero then recover. Pulled into Firestone and let them run a diagnostic check. Got a call this morning that they think it is the timing chain and there are chips in the engine. Recommendation... new engine. $11K installed! WTF?

Got online and it appears there is quite the history with cam phasers, etc. Now I am in a dilemma of what to do. Maybe limp it to the Ford dealer and trade it in? Suggestions?

Have you found anything out yet?

It's been in the shop for a day and half and no word. But they did say it would probably be a couple days before they could get into it. So... hoping tomorrow I will hear back. They said they will borescope, provide pictures, and step me through their diagnosis. Haven't had these guys do work on my vehicles before but their reputation seems real good and they are busy. Good sign I think.

The one thing I loved was when I first called, I asked the lady who answered, if I could speak to someone about the issue. She said, tell me about it... she was knowledgeable about the history of the 5.4L problems with cam phasers, chains, etc. I was impressed. And yeah, I can be a chauvinist.

I'd like to share an amusing story: I had an uncle (now deceased) who was ranting and raving about "Be American, Buy American." He was in a manufacturing facility for years as union labor in California.

At that time, I had Japanese cars at home in Georgia, but drove an F-150 where my uncle was in Florida (he was retired).

When I got tired of his proclamations about "Be American," I walked him out to his own vehicle and opened the hood for him: Made in Canada.

Comprehension - it lacks all around us. Even by those "Be American" guys.

Well, technically Canada is North America. And they only talk kind of funny (except those Quebec guys).

Does that mean that Ford did not get any money from the governement? Hardly. Congress decided that the best alternative for Ford was to get funds from the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF), which is a government program for auto, student, and other consumer loans. These were very low-cost government loans to the tune of $5.9 billion that helped Ford tip-toe past bankruptcy and overhaul their factories to bring out more fuel-efficient technology. The Obama administration’s plans of having a million electric cars on the road by 2015 were being funneled through Ford and two other companies (Nissan and Tesla), and Ford fans had the audacity to call GM “Government Motors.”

Dude, I like you but give it up. The term bailout, as it's being used, meant that GM and Chrysler got bailout money to keep them afloat. Ford got money but it was earmarked for R and D. In no way shape or form did Ford get "bailout" money to keep them from going under. They took preemptive internal measures to keep their business thriving.

Give what up?? Pointing out the other side of the story using facts. I guess that bothers you but it shouldn't.

Geez guys, who cares. Every company takes money from someone at some point. Let's get back on topic, talking about why the Massey compacts are better than all the other brands!

LOL

It doesn't bother me at all. The bailout crap has been kicked around for years with a lot of misinformation. I stand by facts that I presented.

Well me l guess, unless I am not comphrending what I have read so far.

According to the articles I read Honda, Toyota, and GM vehicles were ahead of ford in the american made list of vehicles. You could very well be correct I just haven't seen that and I suspect like most things it's a matter of how you go about comparing. It's surprising that the most american made truck is actually a Toyota and the many of the most american made cars are Toyota and Honda.

The Toyota Camry has been consistently the most American made car.

Totally out of context. Ford didn't bail out . They worked through the recession and came out on top. The F150 beats all the comparable trucks hands down.

I agree. It beats them to the gas station and then to the mechanic shop. If I do decide to get another Ford I'm getting the heated bumper option. Makes it easier to push it while keeping my hands warm.

End of the day Ford did not need a dime while GM needed bailed out. Chrysler needed a short term loan until Fiat bought them out.

What kills me is GM didn't change. It was all a political smoke screen. It was not about jobs, it was about votes. The media just feed information to sway the public just as they did in this last election. If you belive them Hillary should have won 3 to 1.

Sheepish ways.....

Well, sir, the question was U.S. made. Jobs in the U.S. Giving money to Canada does not support the U.S. My uncle was very self-righteous when he made his claims. He got kind of silent after looking at his car's sticker.
