Easiest way to watch TV aside from the FREE OTA is online.

That's true for folks who don't have monthly data caps. Generally not true for rural folks.

Had Direct TV 2013-15, I'm now on my second year back on OTA, I have two antennas hooked up to one TV, one points South, the other North. The problem I have is when it get's down to 15>F, I start losing channels, when it gets down to 0>F, I'm down to just a couple, below 0, I'm lucky to get one channel, but when it's above 20>F, I get 20+ channels.

Wife and I bought into the "Dish" networking system when our kids were young. It seems that every time we get a bill they raise it five bucks so we decided to cancel and go back to our TV antenna. We got the lowest package that they offered. I was telling a co-worker of mine this story and he says that I will not be able to do that unless I get some kind of box. According to him a few years ago the government or someone came up with this deal where you have to install some kind of box in order for your TV to work with an antenna. Anyone know anything about what I'm trying to say here? What are some of you folks doing that live out in the country. If you do indeed use a satellite dish who is it with and how much do you pay a month? Thank you very much for your responses. It's appreciated. RRM

He's talking about digital but the antenna is the same because the broadcast frequency is the same. If you're TV is digital then you're good to go.

Hmm... something is amiss here. Loose connection that contracts in the cold? Haven't seen the problem before...

I dont get it either, everything is brand new factory made coax cable hook up, this summer I might changing the Channel Master 7777 pre-amp to another brand see what that does if nothing. I dont see how coax cable can shrink or contract, the good part is no monthly bill.

Aha... the pre amp... Now we are getting somewhere. Yes I can understand electronic components being a temprature sensitive...You could prove that if you can reach it, with a can of thermal freeze spray. Hit it a blast with the freeze spray and see if you can duplicate the problem. If so, replace the pre amp. We used to use freeze spray all the time when I worked at TV repair shops. Course that was a lifetime ago. It also works very well when cockroaches run out on your service bench. Just crack the valve and let a drop fall on them. Instant frozen roach.

I wouldn't do that. I could tell you a story of how the roaches got into the building... but only if you want to hear it..

I've seen tons of them. Back when I worked in aviation and avionics I saw intermittency caused from any number of changes in the environment temperature, pressure, moisture, vibration, shock and sometimes it took a combination of things. I went through freeze spray by the case. They still make it but the chemicals used are different since freon is no longer allowed.

You don't need anything special, just use an air duster can for cleaning keyboards and such and turn it upside down. Turning it upside down makes the liquid CO2 come out instead of air. Used that before to unstick a boat pedestal seat.

I wonder if that "thermal freeze spray" is just the same thing but with a tube inside of it so the contents on the bottom come out instead of the contents at the top.
