Bead sealer, can I use it for this?

So to make a long story short, I bout new tires for my rider and on the last tire (rear) while I was putting it on the rim my screw driver slipped putting it over the rim and now there's a really tiny piece of the bead wire sticking out, maybe half a centimeter. I went ahead and mounted it and aired it up. It seated fine but it's leaking ever so slowly. Since it's a brand new tire, I thought about bead sealer because the wheels are in good shape. You guys think it's worth a shot? I really don't want to buy another new tire cause I screwed this one up :/ plus my wife would be pissed if I had to buy another one cause I ruined this one.... lol

I would unseat it and snip and grind off the wire and make everything smooth, then sealer and inflate.

Thanks for the reply. I won't get to it till Saturday but I'll try that out. I was debating snipping on the little piece.

How about installing an inner tube?

I may try that as a last resort but I've got some bead sealer so I think I'll try that first. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience with using it in a similar situation. Just thought of something else. Should I use the bead sealer all the way around or just in the trouble spot?

I'd just put it on the area where the seep was, less cleanup for the next time the tire comes off.

I'd tube it and never worry about it a second time...

Thanks guys. I don't want to buy a tube if I don't have to but I'll keep it in mind for sure. I'll try to get it on the area without popping the whole bead off so they aren't hard to setup again. I used the brake fluid technique the first time which worked great but I'd just rather not have to go through that again lol.

Bead sealer will work fine unless the tire slips on the rim. Once that happens it'll leak again. For a rider it's not that likely, for an ATV, UTV, or tractor with aggressive tread that can put a lot of power to the ground it's more likely. The problem with a tube is it can trap moisture between it and the steel wheel and cause rust. I would pop the bead off on that one side, use plenty of bead sealer, and then put something over the tire when you air it up. When the tire beads itself sealer could come squirting out.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I got a giant can of bead sealer for $13, wish they sold it in smaller amounts lol but I guess I'm prepared for the future. I'll let ya know in a day or two when I get it back together if it worked or not.
