That kind of relationship is just not valued in big business anymore. In fact discouraged.

Any dumbed-down (and low paid) robotic employee should be able to replace any other such employee without notice.

I was told as much today... corporate does not want personal relationships with vendors or competitors... by competitors I mean other hospitals anywhere... even in our family...

Nice story about the 13 year old girl. In this day and age it could have taken so many ridiculous turns.

No she can't fix it. Egos! If the adult can't, she can't either. And LIABILITY on so many different levels. Are the nuts back on tight? And besides, that wouldn't be a team effort! It could make the others "feel" bad. Do immeasurable harm to their self esteem. So this world goes!

When considering the question of would it be better to just sit on your butt and take it easy or get out there and do everything that you can yourself, if you just sit you probably will not live too long. Being active will extend your life, sitting won't.
Today I worked all day in my greenhouse. Started by building a little support frame for the center drip line, I then sanitized and filled about 60 large pots with a yard plus of potting soil (shoveled out of my pickup truck). Was it work? Yes. Am I now sore and tired? Yes, a bit. Was it a day well spent? Yes, I got a lot accomplished and I enjoyed doing it.
I have always enjoyed doing it myself and figuring out how to do stuff, that is my reward!

... the response was Doctors will just need to learn that not all their wishes can be accommodated...

.....

the response was INSERT ANY OF YOUR PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS HERE will just need to learn that not all their wishes can be accommodated...

And by "Previous Customers" I mean anyone that you used to provide service to.... after all, your co-workers were your customers because you were a service guy. So am I. Now I'm not allowed to help them anymore. They have to "submit a ticket".

Some of the projects/fabrication work here on TBN is amazing... members with real talent and willing to help others...

I have found it to be inspirational when someone fabs up a backhoe or builds a wood processor or comes up with a neat mod...

At one of the girls parties with 12 little eight year olds I gave another niece a tool kit in a soft-sided case... had all the regular things plus a few added like a Klein 10 in one driver, level, hammer, wrenches, etc... all of the girls put down their barbies and were fascinated with the tools...

I do think a little encouragement at a young age goes a long way... the ironic thing is my sister-in-law was all in and my brother not to much... did I say I have great sister-in-laws?

Productivity is down the tubes... where a simple one on one service request... be it phone or e-mail now goes through multiple hands and decision makers... all offsite.

Hospital are required to maintain equipment service/pm records and I noticed some of the equipment under contract has no March paperwork although they were serviced...

Vendors were instructed by Corp said all documentation to headquarters along with invoices... which would be OK until medicare shows up or the fire Marshall or the OSHPD and I have no documentation.

You ever do Powder Puff Derby cars with girls or Pinewood Derby cars with boys? I have fond memories of my dad and I working on pinewood cars together. That was my first lesson in coping saws, files, rasps, drills, and hot lead! :) Our first year car was the prototype. Second year we won it all! Fast forward 28 years and I'm was working on powder puff cars with my youngest girl. Same lessons except coping saw is now electric scroll saw, hot lead is now tungsten weights, electric drill is cordless.... 1st year was prototype. 2nd year she won it all! My cars and her cars are sitting next to each other in the "trophy case" (glass bookshelf). Great times. Neither one of our girls is scared to attempt something mechanical, with a little help.

Boy this thread caught fire... loved the knack video. Also thinking the OP should chime back in after his misinterpretation of Moss's initial post.
.

There was no misinterpretation.

Yes, TomSeller, I also feel that such a statement deserves a explanation.
