Buying Advice New 40 hp tractor... the search begins.

Hello all,

I am starting my search for a 40-45 hp tractor FEL HST with cab, and looking for input.

I currently have a 1999 JD 4500 (39HP) that has served me well, but its time to upgrade.

I plan to look at a JD 4044R, and Kioti NX4510 this week and will give my opinions on each. Any others I should definately add to my list? Would love to look at them all, but who has time for that!

Tractordata.com shows the bare weight of your JD 4500 at 3,450 pounds. I would not shop any lighter.

We are looking at a 40 series from JD as well.

The Massey 1742 and 1749 are also real nice tractors.

Check out the new Yanmar YT347C. They're really nice. Yanmar builds the engines in your JD 4500 and the 4044R you're looking at so you might as well check out the entire Yanmar tractor. They also have the YT359 model and both have the new iHMT which is supposedly more efficient than a HST.

i was also looking at the yt359, but man, my nearest dealer 125 miles away are asking full retail...i could buy a kubota L5460 for darn near the same price..

Looks like the Kubota Grand L4760 cab model would be very competitive with the JD 4044R and Kioti NX4510 in performance, features and price. Looks like you have several Kubota dealers within an hour's drive of Carbondale. I would shop the dealer as well as the brand since you are looking for top-drawer equipment and should expect support from the dealer to match. All of the brands mentioned make seriously good equipment but selecting one involves personal preferences and you should choose the machine and dealer you like the best.

variety of manufactures out there. hit there websites and do dealer lookup's. and you begin getting dealers starting to show up here and there.

would be nice of google maps showed tractor dealers. but nada. no way to find local dealers easily without jumping the hoops to find the local dealers. good chance local dealers also sell other manufacture types.

somehow ended up on deereused.com or some website. showing stuff listed, and no way to bid, contact dealers, or anything. was rather *big frown*

most of the dealers showed up on TractorHouse.com | Used Tractors For Sale: John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Kubota. -> dealer lookup and entering zip code to sort by nearest dealers.

Thanks for the comments. I looked at a JD 4066R, and a Kubota L4760 and both are very nice. Really like the hitch assist controls on the deere... do any other brands offer this? Switching from mower, box blade, and tiller attachments would make life much easier.... seemingly

Was planning to look at the Kioti, Case, and Massey, but have located a used 2017 4054R locally that only has 2 hrs and a $8k discount vs new. Seems too good a deal to pass up. It also has 2 rear remotes, and a self leveling HD bucket.
