Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

**********; offers or solicitation of illegal prostitution... animal parts, stud service

Will there goes my business idea..

A patient came in to my office the other day and asked me to clarify a diagnostic question for him...

First he asked if he was truly an insomniac, agnostic, dyslexic with anxiety issues, just because he lays awake at night worrying whether there is a DOG....

Then he asked if he would be considered a sadomasochist with a bent toward ********** because, when he does fall asleep, he dreams that he is beating a dead horse.

He further reported that this dream alternates with dreams of being a wigwam or tee-pee, so I told him:

"You're just too tense..."

Ba Dum Bump...

Heh got to go shopping at HF on my boss's dime for the tool tent (he gave me a blank check but I was good)

Got several of the cased socket sets both impact grade and chrome. Over all they aren't bad and the big chrome set even has some 8pt sockets for square drain plugs. Plus the impacts fit my tools well and are quite snug not sloppy or loose. There are several sizes of straps, chain, tow hitch tri balls, tool bags, ammo boxes, drill bits, hole saws, battery tester, battery charger, DMM's the $9.99 grinder, cutoff wheels, hex keys and T handles, saw blades, combo wrenches, breaker bars, knee pads, ear muffs, carabineers, nut and bolt sets and more.

I had to go back an do refund today as one of the coupons didn't credit right and they guy working the register there says...

"I never seen a receipt this long before!" It was about 4 ft long!

Thinking of grabbing the electric chainsaw along with the 3 gal hot dog air compressor they are both at $39 with a coupon.

Also the red corded recip saw for 19.99

Any feedbacks?

Compare the CFM of the compressor to what you will use it with. Tires (slowly), blowing out dust, painting with artist's airbrush, stapler or finish nailer, ok. More powerful air tools, no.

I have an electric chainsaw from another brand. It works fine, stronger than I expected. But now I never use it after I bought the Ryobi 18 volt battery chainsaw. I recommend the Ryobi.

$19 recip saw? Probably like the $9 angle grinder. Ok, nothing special.

Yea I have the 2 n 1 finish nailer/stapler they were only $15 with coupon so I was thinking some air option may be good. Hard to sort the reviews but when someone says won't fill a tire or won't stop running obviously they are overtaxing it and not letting the psi build back up.

Freight has a cordless chainsaw now too! And a guy was buying one when I was in the store again yesterday. I finally got to use a 25% holiday coupon as my job as shut down because of rain and normally I always work most major holidays. I was thinking both the corded saw and the recip for those second homeowners that need a cheap tool at camp and probably don't even own a real chainsaw anyhow.

I have an cordless Oregon 40v pole pruner its ok and do see Freight now has one also with the new Lynxx stuff. Maybe it is better than the Oregon. THAT has a real design problem any undue sideways pressure can and will crack the backing plate for the sprocket and chain. They sent me a whole brand new powerhead no questions asked when I called looking for a replacement backing plate after mine broke recently. Seems they know all about it

Oh I also tried out that underhood light it does easily work and is decently built but the light output is generally lacking for something of that nature. Note that it does not give a lumen rating anywhere

My DeWalt (made by Simpson) pressure washer pump broke, probably after a freeze. (Very common problem) While I was waiting for a replacement pump ($250), I bought the HF 3100psi / 2.8 GPM for $379 as a long weekend rental was going to be $300.

It has a Honda clone, 5 replaceable tips.

  • When I opened the box, the fuel tank was dented and rubber handle torn.
  • Plastic holder for the tips was cracked. I didn't have time to return it so used as-is.
  • Guy at store told me it had oil in it. It didn't. Has a low oil switch so it won't start anyway but - bad info.
  • It's loud!
  • The steel wand is actually a bit longer than the DeWalt. Hose is about the same.
  • Big wheels roll well on grass (DeWalt has smaller, wider pneumatic wheels)
  • Taller than the DeWalt but handle folds down.
  • For the few hours we've used it so far, it does a good job.

So like a lot of HF stuff, built on the cheap side but does work as advertised.

31 PSI, 2.8 GPM, 6.5 HP (212cc) Pressure Washer EPA III

I picked up one of the 3-ton low-profile floor jacks Saturday. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but they seem to get pretty good reviews.

I got one a few months ago. It has worked well. I heard rumors that one should check the oil level before using. I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Not just HF. I just got back from Fry's where I had to return a DOA factory refurb laptop. All they had for an exchange was an open-box customer return from someone else. I'm downloading the updates for it now. We shall see if this one was returned for a reason...

But the price was killer. $100 closeout special (with a preferred-customer coupon) when Amazon etc sell the same refurb for over $160, equivalent new over $300. I just want this small laptop for vacation travel so I didn't want to pay much, if it works ok it is perfect for my use. But like HF stuff, Fry's prices are low because final QC is left to the customer.

I have one that is a couple years old. It works fine for lifting, but leaks down a lot more than it should. It will go all the way down if left overnight.
