Wow!! jd really has a horrible 3pt lift capacity

I thought that is a lot of lift capacity even for such a small tractor. The drill you want to use belongs on a 5000 or 6000 series tractor.

I agree that a 5000 and up size tractor is a better choice. For the most part I prefer to work with lower weight ratings for everything on fels and 3pt hitches. If you are always maxing out the limits of capability the chance for failure increases.

Thanks man appreciate the input

While you will be able to lift this drill it is a little heavy for a 4xxx series tractor. If you have not already purchased this drill I would recommend you get something lighter. I am not risking much money with a cheap roller, if it did not work no loss to speak of. With the new drill you speak of that would be different, more money. Do they offer a 48" drill? That might be a better fit.

Like others said sounds like this drill is more geared for a utility chassis instead of a compact chassis. I see some of the enormous lift weights some mfg's advertise in some cases as much as the base weight of the tractor...that always seemed a tad unrealistic to me from a safety standpoint. The university of Nebraska tractor tests will also show you if a particular mfg model was able to meet said lift claims...some of them do not lift what they claim and others lift more than they claim. Good luck.

This a a 66 hp tractor. Mahindra ls kioti and kubota all have 700 plus more lbs of lift power for similar tractors

Did you compare capacity prior to purchase ?
Is HP the definition of weight carrying capacity ? Look up the load capacity of a 3500 gmc pickup with a 325HP engine vs the 1500 pickup with the 420HP engine .
What is the net chassis weight of x, y and z tractor vs hitch lift capacity ?

Well said, I personally would say that my 4 series will lift more than it can safely transport without a lot of ballast, if someone would turn my tractor up and make it lift more then an operation could get into trouble real quick.

A guy on here told me that I should not run a 7ft rotary cutter on my tractor, he said he tried it and the center of gravity on the cutter is too far out that it beat up the tractor too much, he said run a 6ft cutter or double blade 8ft cutter, he said no way I could comfortably and safely run a batwing of any size, the tractor frame is just too small and not heavy enough, sure I have the HP to run one but it would beat the tractor to death, even at 48hp I'm limited by frame size and weight.

This guy giving the advise ran a 7ft cutter on a 5075E, he now has a 5100E which both tractors are bigger and heavier than mine.

I have the 4066r and wanted to get a genesis grain drill that weighs 2600lbs and thought that would be no problem...but I checked the specs and it out lyrics lifts 2500lbs....that so much less then comparable tractors....I'm so disappointed

I would think you'd be looking at the utility line AG tractors...series 5 minimum for grain drill work...Rear lift (at 24"/610mm): 3,192 lbs

Mahindra rates everything at the pins. Big difference in 24" back of the pins. On their FEL's specs they are rated at the pins also. Not disparaging their capabilities but you need to compare the specs where they are rated from.

My M6040 is rated at 4200# at the pins and 3300# at 24" out from the pins. Tractor with grapple and rear blade weighs 9980#.

I just ordered this drill today. I hope I didn't make a mistake. I have an everything attachments grapple bucket..would you guys recommend running it with that for more counter weight? I've talked to guys that said they ran this drill with older 4720 and 4520....same specs...I'm hoping it will be fine

You will definitely need something for counter weight when using the grapple. The grain drill, as I envision one, is a rather awkward piece of equipment to be running all over the property with. The more compact and "close in" the equipment on the 3-point is - the easier it will be to handle as counterweight for the grapple.
