Comparison Kioti vs Kubota vs John Deere

Somebody a lot smarter than me put this quote on here one time.

"The amount of work a tractor can do is determined by it's weight, how fast it does that work is determined by it's horsepower."

A heavier tractor will do more work, but might be slower. A higher horsepower means the tractor will do work faster. Make sense?

For MY purposes, and it might not suit yours, I got a Kioti because it was much heavier than the same HP and price Kubota. Also the loader lifted 1100# as opposed to 800#. That made a big difference in what I intended to use the tractor for. You are looking at a bigger tractor and I don't know about the backhoe. The green things were way more expensive and the dealer was mainly interested in Ag equipment.

Anyway, whatever you buy just have fun and be safe.

This may be true for some applications but few if any I have ever come across...the main reason I can't do grading/road maintenance faster is because my B1700 is not that heavy and multiple passes are required it moves plenty fast with the HP...lack of traction (weight) slows things down...

As for the OP...if money is no object...I would test drive all three long enough to really find the one that you like operating the best and are most comfortable with...

That quote is very true and I have said it before as well.

Kioti vs Kubota weight and loader lift and Deere pricing I don't think will apply in this particular comparison.

Standard "economy line" Kubota are typically light for their HP. But the grand L is heavy.

The three tractors being compared are so close on weight, size, lift capacities, and power that there probably isn't any real world preformance differences.

So in this case, stick to pricing and ergonomics and dealer for the final decision IMO. And assuming it's gonna be a HST, compare their driveability. And given that the Kubota is a grand L, price is probably on par with the Deere.

If it were my decision though, it would come down to the two orange tractors, and how much more $$$ the Kubota HST and name is worth over kioti that will likely be a few grand less.

Thank you very much everyone, I truly appreciate your honest opinions.

Until yesterday, I never heard of Kioti. Anyone here owns a Kioti and having problems with it? or can tell me anything about Kioti that makes it stand out (other than price)?

I have seen JD and Kubota but more of industrial (like Deere 110, 310,...).

I will have to go test drive those tractors.

There are four brands of Korean tractors sold in the US: Kioti, LS, Branson and TYM.

Kioti and LS tractors seem to be doing particularly well off a small base.

Having said that, Kubota has 45% - 50% market share in tractors with 18-horsepower to 70-horsepower. Deere has around 20%. So Kubota and Deere dominate units sold, but not discussion here. Most here would consider Kioti and LS as reliable as Kubota and Deere. Keep in mind the prudence and experience of the tractor owner/operator is the most important factor, but not the only factor in tractor reliability.

I have shopped LS in detail at ag shows and been impressed, however the nearest LS dealer is eighty miles from me.

My Kubota dealer is within six miles. At age seventy, I prioritize having local, dependable service.

Thank you very much Jeff9366.

How did you find out about market share? do you have links I can check out? 50% market share for Kubota is really surprising.

You were even able to get with a specific sector (18-70 hp). This is very impressive, you know a lot about the market.

I just checked the LS (which i never heard of) and true, very few dealers. How does LS compare with Kioti (quality and price)?

Thank you,

This site attracts tractor aficionados. Market share data is updated from time to time by contributing dealer/advertisers from industry data, then fervently chewed on by correspondents here for WEEKS.

Kubota developed the residential tractor segment in the US almost by itself. So many start on a Kubota, new or used ~~~~ and stay on a Kubota. Deere and Kubota are famous for maintaining parts for legacy tractor models, so a lot of "oldies" are still working. (I started with a used Deere, I have made two new Kubota tractor purchases.)

Kubota's "0%" financing for tractors and Kubota implements has strong appeal, given that a small tractor and a few 'starter' implements cost $25,000.

I would characterize T-B-N correspondents as tractor brand "early adopters" in marketing parlance.

Note: T-B-N has Kioti and LS specific forums. Go to FORUMS in the heading and cursor down. You can read for days.

"Most here would consider Kioti and LS as reliable as Kubota and Deere."

Dealer, dealer, dealer, who has been in business the longest and has a good maintenance shop.
That would not be my deciding factor. Purchased my current tractor back in June of 1997 and never has gone back to the dealers. Never had been a need for it. Of course, I may not be so lucky if/when I ever purchase another.

I would test drive all three to compare the agronomics to see which one suits you the best. Everyone has their own preferences for varied reasons.

Like you Oldoak, my tractor has not been back to the dealer since I bought it. Getting close to 300 hours and no problems of any kind.

I'm not a pro in this, but I found it's useful starting out with sites like tractor house, machinery marketplace, machinery pete... First, they have more choices to review/compare. Second, you're locked down to one or two sellers on start. Third, you can find dealerships in your area if you don't know one yet. I prefer Machinery Marketplace over others since they have #3 work out better with nice map.
