Dx 45 starter clicks.

Have a dx 45 with 6000 hours on it. Installed new starter but starter still clicks. Can jump starter and starts every time. Sometimes it will stop clicking or will start. Seems to be worse when engine has been running.

have you checked the battery and/or battery cables?

Just cleaned both and seems to work. Not sure if that was the problem.

Probably it was the issue and possibly you didn't need a new starter at all.

Diagnostically, you seem to have started at the wrong end of the trail.

I always suspect the ignition switch, that is where I would have started.

Not the key switch!! Would never be that easy!! Anymore ideas?

How many volts is the battery putting out, clean and tighten the cables. Have you checked the ground where it connects to the chassis.

12.9 at cable at the starter. 11.6 at little wire at starter. Cables are tight at battery

The starter solenoid is worn out.
