Culvert for creek?

I use 20". 20' corrugated pvc culvert for my ditches where I drive over them. Heavy rains and the springtime melt sees the most water with a steady flow. I set my culvert in so that the inlet side ground was slightly higher than the culvert entrance. On the outlet side of the culvert it is close to the same height as the ground or a bit above. I sloped the ground before setting the culvert in to ensure that the water would want to run out - just a couple of inches difference one end to the other. I filled in the culvert and lined stones along the ground on the ends for the water to flow over. Never a problem and I've had 11 yd gravel dump trucks drive over them without any issues.
I would think that culvert size really depends on what is the deepest and widest the water ever gets during the year. An undersized culvert will wash out.
Are you diverting water to your pond or planning to reroute all of the water to your pond. Interesting project.

I buy my culverts from the local hardware store (they can order too) or from the feed store 45 min. away. They have everything in stock, galvanized too. Check out your yellow pages.

The Lowes link is to "Dual Wall' Pipe which is smooth on the inside. The same pipe I used for my culvert.

You will also need 2 couplings:

I have a stream that is approx 8" wide and approx 4" deep. The stream is slow moving and is needed to feed water to my pond. A 50' section of this stream has holes in the ground that make the water flow subterranean which reduces the water my pond gets. Would plastic corrugated culvert be the best option to prevent the water from diverting subterranean? I was using think plastic sheeting to line the bed of the stream, but with time deer walked on it and punctured it.
For what it is worth, the stream does get silk buildup over time. I have no idea as how to address this problem.

I would strongly disagree with the suggestion (Billrog) that you use 4" PVC.
The 4" might carry the water that you have, but a twig, with some leaves/debris will completely block it off.
A piece of 12" corrugated culvert pipe would be your best option.

I found out smooth inside collects less dirt etc, out side tip down little, also if 12" culvert enough I go one size bigger for you never know what mother nature will throw at you.
