It sure looks like he has thought through all of the consequences.

The driver of the truck was working for Cookeville Concrete. The owner of the company admitted to NewsChannel 5 on the phone that the lumber was not properly secured.

He said there was only strap binding the pile when there should have been at least two. The owner had no immediate plans to reprimand the driver.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tollison was cited for an expired license plate, no insurance and transporting unsecured materials.
Add 'inattentive driving' to those charges.. But, the owner is a prick too it seems.

I'd be reluctant to drive it down. Ramps are notorious for slipping around and are just too easy to drive off.

If you look at the frame at 1M23S into the video, it appears the ramps are held in place by the same bolts that hold the wheel block he installs at the front after loading.

Considering it is a manufacturer supplied solution, I don't think they would provide unlatched ramps. Any good ramps have a way to secure them.

I had the same thought until I noticed they were bolted down.

Yea, tops are secure. Still too easy to drive off edge or to have something else fail. Personally, I'd winch it down.

Those ramps are too dangerous for my liking. If I was forced to use them I'd find a hill to make the angle less. I have thought about hauling my mule in the back of my dump truck ( I've never actually done it). The plan was to load the mule on my GN trailer, flip the ramps up and back my dump truck up to the end of the trailer, and drive across. There was another trailer where I was going so the unload process would have been the same.

Both photos show a winch cable. He's not driving it up/down those narrow ramps!

Two ramp stories: My neighbor said the only tractor accident they've had in three generations was driving up a ramp that wasn't secured as well as they thought. Too much throttle shot the ramp out behind him. The tractor came down on its side with the muffler pinning him to the ground. Thankfully, no significant injury.

And we once watched from across the creek as a dirt bike rider tried to load into his pickup but with a flat front tire. He was almost there when he drove off the side of the ramp. He got back up on his feet a minute later so I guess he was ok. He hadn't tried a second attempt by the time we left.

Wow! Close call for the camera car. What caused that to happen? (re the flipped semitrailer)
