rant - What the heck happened to the price of snatch blocks?

I'm starting to use snatch blocks and pulleys for redirecting lines to pull trees. I've two blocks I bought years ago (2010?) that I probably paid a whopping $6 for each, they take a 1/2" rope or wire and are rated for 10k lbs. I was going to buy a couple more. Even Harbor Freight wants about $30 for a cheap version!!
Northern Tool wants $70!!
2 small plates of metal, a pulley, bolt, nut and washer why the high price?? Lawyers??

I just looked at TSC and the 10k are $15 and the 20k are $30. I think the 20k has a grease zerk and is pretty nice. I wouldn't want to use any lighter one for yanking around on trees with my truck or tractor.

I thought they were reasonable. I got a 20K a year or two ago and think it was the same price then but I am sure the price needs to account for lawyers because Larry, Darryl and the other brother Darryl will be using them.

I just saw one in the Bi-Mart ad (Northwest chain of stores) for $15. No specs on it, but it appears to be sized for the cable on a vehicle winch.

Years & years ago I bought four HD snatch blocks. Heavy cast iron body, grease-able center bearings - rated at 30K each. Paid around $40 each - darned if I can remember where I have them stashed. But they are sure nice..............

I was in Northern Tools walking around when a 20 something guy asked if he could help me find something. Yes, I'm looking for an open-faced snatch block. I will never forget the look on his face..... I'm sure he thought I was about to molest him. :laughing:
