No Hunting Purple

Based upon the small sampling from this thread and years of experience - I would tend to go with "NO Trespassing" signs. Purple simply isn't know by the general public. Not that many pay any attention to signage anyhow.

Fortunately we tinker a little with sign making so I will probably make one with a white background and purple letters to go with the purple paint.

In Texas, a person commits criminal trespass when he/she jumps a fence. If your property is completely fenced then the purple markings are only required at gates.

Its weird you post this, I just noticed some of the purple today. Didn't know what it meant but I do now.

There is a good reason a lot of us have never heard of "No Hunt Purple". Currently its the law in only nine states - Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Texas and Massachusetts.

As mjonesnh mentioned earlier it became law here in Tn in July. This was the first time for me to hear about purple marking as well and I just recently put up a few posted signs as some hunters from Nashville recently purchased 87 acres next door for hunting. I'll stick with the signs on my small place (10 ac.) but if I ever decide to fence I'll dip my T-post tops in some purple paint before installing.

I've never heard of it, but I've only hunted in AZ, NM and ND.

I use both signs & purple paint on my land. In MO, the purple paint marks can be no farther than 100 feet apart according to the MO University guide!!

I must of missed it cause this the first I heard of a purple sign that mean No Trespassing, but in this state we all know what the rainbow color stands for.....

Thanks for the info!

Anybody know what other states us "no hunt purple"?

We here in Missouri have used it for many years. Only problem with the purple paint is after a few years in the weather, the paint looks blue not not purple. The local news stations usually make an effort to mention the purple paint/posted land, thing every hunting season. I saw it on KY3 about a week ago.
There is far more usage of the purple paint than the signs. At least around here.
