New USPS service or Big Brother is watching?

Far and away the big users of the USPS is bulk mailers.... sending the same crap they have on their webpages.

Amazon is getting ready to roll their own delivery service through sub contractors. Another nail in the defunding of USPS coffin maybe? Really, anything tied to USPS as of late has been a disappointment.

I like the usps. The biggest problem I have had there is the long lines. All the delivery people have been courteous and caring. Don't they hire a lot of veterans as well?

Everything I've seen farmed out goes to heck real quick. Contractors just want their money .

Vets get a 5 point preference, disabled vets get 10 points. That is the number of points added to their test scores when applying for career jobs. However, the PO is not hiring career employees, just temps.

Wouldn't be a bad retirement job even as a temp. Decent exercise, low stress. But then I would have to take public money, maybe not such a good idea. Can't see doing that.

Temps are not eligible for gov't retirement, only Social Security. Also you would not be taking public money. More than 99% of Postal funding is provided by postage.

USPS should have been gone long ago... turn it over to private, competitive service. We no longer need a federal government to deliver mail. Let the free market prevail.

So, no full timers anymore? Becoming a company of part time/temps? That's the 2nd surest way to flush it down the toilet, 1st being contract labor.

Absolutely correct. A lot of the current problems are with the temps. They have no vested interest in the job and really don't care. A lot of the temps are bailing out in record time. The result is that the PO is dipping down to the bottom of the barrel. What you are seeing is the end result.
