That sense, but as usual there's always a catch, I need 240v for hot water heater and well pump, so who makes a 7000 watt generator inverter?
We just bought a Briggs & Stratton Q6500 Inverter for $1,500. Pull start.
Q6500 QuietPower Inverter Generator (Yamaha is about $3,000, Honda is fuel-injected and $4,000.)

Pluses:
  • Has 240V outlet, designed for home backup.
  • Five gallon internal tank with gauge.
  • Will run up to 14 hours per tank according to manufacturer: from our limited use that is conservative.
  • Has two USB ports for charging.
  • Has built-in wheels and a collapsing handle.
  • Relatively quiet.
  • Really low price for quality Inverter this size.

Minuses:
  • Wheels do not lock - some users report it will walk on hard surfaces.
  • Pull start only: effort is not high but requires a long pull.
  • No option for remote start.
  • Full 5000W Running / 6500W starting is only available as 240V output: designed for home backup, not RV use.

They are costly but kinda a buy once thing. I'd like to see these have a propane option.

Looks like Champion has one but not in the 220v flavor.

We very seldom lose power in Boston so couldn稚 justify the $4,000 EU7000 and wanted to give B&S a shot at our business. We still have three EU2000´ for more-portable use.

Wish B&S came out with a $2,000 Q6500 with remote electric start, bigger wheels, full output through the 120V outlets, etc. But as they are backordered most places into December, it has become a popular choice as-is.

Sound readings.

Full throttle, 3 feet away 89dB . 20 feet: 80dB.
Eco mode 3 feet away: 83dB. 20 feet: 75dB.

For reference, EU2000i. Our EU3000is was slightly quieter.
Full throttle, near 80dB. 20 feet: 70dB.
Eco mode near: 74dB. 20 feet: 67dB.

The app was the iPhone app Decibel 10 if you want to run your own tests.

I paid $2000+ for a Honda ES6500 ...... 27 years ago!
Sure,.....mine is electric start, and water cooled, but .....
......$1500 (or less) for a manual start, quiet, 6500W rated, inverter generator, is an amazing deal for 2017.
If I needed another backup generator, (I have 3) I would definitely buy one!

I only run a generator when I REALLY need it, it's considered one of my "emergency tools", so I buy known quality... And, in the long run it has paid off for me.

Just because some one can get something built cheapo in china, and put a common name on it, doesn't make it good quality that can be depended on for long life.

SO, I have been sticking to tools of "known" quality...

No one every got fired for buying Honda... or was that IBM?

Honda has a good reputation that it built... Japan was not known for quality in the 60's... saying made in Japan meant cheap back then...

No way implying others are not good values... but Honda also has the highest resale almost across the board.

I have often wondered why Honda no longer sells it super quiet Diesel water cooled generators that were marketed to the film industry and such...

Thanks for that link, that one looks more doable then the Hoonda 7000@$3,799, but as always there a slight catch, 5000 running watts, when I have my electric hot water on my transfer switch box two meteors are reading just a hair under 5,000 watts if those are accurate that would put the gen/invert near the limit or edge of the universe, guess I could take a cold shower thow but at my age I dont need cold showers anymore.

"Relatively quiet."<<<<<So this is your opion from listening to it, guess what I'm asking is, you've tried it and thats what you consider it to be? Would you say like a small lawn mower, rototiller, woodsplitter or quieter than those?
