I still have to ask. What happens to the families of military personnel? I think this would be key as far as how many would desert. I personally would imagine that the armed forced would have it's resources stretched to the limit, just protecting itself and its assets. There is a lot of real estate in the US and much of it sparsely populated. How much fuel does the armed forced keep on hand?

The Soldier having to make a choice of protecting his/her family or the public from itself will contribute dramatically to shrinking numbers. Sad, but reality.

Protecting governmental assets first would be a huge issue creating a large vacuum of time when ML support is needed and when it finally gets supported.

Not even knowing the numbers, I'll guess the military doesn't have enough fuel stockpiled to mobilize all the equipment necessary to all the locations needed and sustain any length of operation. Then we are back to whether the required equipment is even functional.

Not for long...under M.L. the constitution is suspended...guns would be confiscated...there would be zero tolerance by the military...

Don't forget that the military/government rarely does anything effectively or efficiently. This would surely be the mother of all cluster farts! And in that, I imagine all manner of danger to the public as military personnel act with little or no oversight.

Who said anything about a "mass disarmament" ? martial law means the constitution is suspended...as would be the bill of rights...There is no set laws per se, the military would have complete authority including legislative, judicial etc. powers...nonconformists would be dealt with zero tolerance...

In reality the US military is actually quite effective...if you don't believe it...just ask bin laden or any of the dead terrorists that have been taken out with predator drones...
