Last time I had the tank pumped (5 year intervals seems to work) I found that all the apparently independent companies all go through the same answering service and who shows up isn't who you called. The guy did a fine job but his girlfriend on the truck seemed odd. She phoned in my credit card, told me it got refused, she phoned somewhere else, said it went through. (My credit is flawless). Whatever, the problem isn't on my end.
Next morning MasterCard called me. "We want to verify with you before allowing this $2,600 charge for your Propane refill in Kazakhstan." Uh no, please refuse payment. And thanks for looking out for me.

Yeah, but it would do the same if I diverted it to a separate leech pot. I just don't see a reason it needs to go through the septic tank and drainfield which has a more important purpose.

There is just an awful lot of folk lore and politics wound up in private sewage disposal management. The majority of what is heard on - "when should the septic tank be pumped" is based upon the two aforementioned points.
There are VERY precise scientific/biological methods of making accurate determinations as to - when to pump. Most, if not all, homeowners are not prepared to use these methods or become sickened by the exacting procedures.
Hence - we find the almost universal recommendation - "pump every three to five years". Fortunately, if the homeowner follows this plan - all but the most intense usage will be taken care of.

You cant be to far out in the boonies, according to google maps your near route 1, so am I, you must be a little west from me.
I dont get that either, then someone here mentions every few years just so to check his septic tank for deterioration, I heard this before, human wastes must some toxic to have a cement tank deteriorate, thought cement was the for ever ever material, guess not. Maybe septic tanks should be made out rocks, they've been around for a milliner, threw erosion corrosion and all sorts of pollution.
You got that right, only 4,675 miles. I'll have the coffee on for you!
All this talk about washing machine lint has me thinking - that $160 for the Filtrol isn't really that much and maybe I ought to be using one. We seem to do a LOT of laundry. Anybody using one of the other less expensive alternatives that we can be SURE actually filters out the majority of fibers?
