Coolant Leak from block heater? Kubota BX

What are the odds I can get this thing backed off a little bit to clean everything and then pop it back in with fresh Loctite?

I realize this boils down to ability and tools...Just generally speaking.

I can, I just need to rent a trailer to do it as I don't trust my tilting snowmobile trailer...

You will have to drain the coolant down below the heater pull it out clean and dry the hole then put it back in

Bought my tractor new with the block heater installed. Noticed some coolant on the ground and traced it back to the block heater. Also noticed that my coolant level was very low. Glad I didn't overheat it.

Now I either attempt to fix the leak myself or I have to rent a trailer to bring my tractor in (float charge to bring it in for warranty is insane!)

On a small job like this most reputable dealers would simply send a service truck out to your property to fix it on your site at no cost to you.

Since you bought the tractor new and the dealer installed the block heater I would be telling the dealer to either go to my site to fix it, eat the float costs to their shop to fix it because it's a warrantable item due to their cock-up, or refund my money on the tractor and take it back.

Don't fix it yourself because you already paid them to do the job right from the start.

You touch it, you own it.
They did the install. They should send a guy out. You sound a little unsure. Make them come get it to do right. It's not a Kubota warranty item, but your dealers warranty.

robertm, Mikester, I whole heartedly agree with you both. I am waiting to hear back from the dealer regarding their policy.. I hadn't thought of the dealer warranty vs a Kubota warranty item.

Having said that, I do believe I can fix this myself within 10 minutes (just really didn't want to have to. After seeing a few images and posts I am pretty confident) so I'll see if I need the tractor or if I can be without it for a few days.

Had a closer look, the heater unit itself failed. Leaking right through one of the prongs in the middle of the plug

*Dealer is sending tech by to replace the unit.
