Interesting Tajfun logging winch

P.S. I think you'll be happy with whatever brand you choose; they're all good. I don't think it's possible to buy a "bad" logging winch.

The biggest thing between brands is, the options on the winch that come standard, or are even available like a safety screen, trailer hitch, a chainsaw loop, tool box ect...

Personally, I like Farmi and Wallenstein the best, by far...

I bought a EGV-35 for the Kubota B26 and I just love this thing. Combined with a self-release snatch block,makes doing selective cutting way more efficient.

What I like about the Tajfun EGV 45 that I bought over the other brands was: over 200' of line, 3 sliders, 3 choker chains, 2 covered toolboxes, chainsaw holder, pto shaft holder when not in use, larger drum that's easier on heavier wire rope, brake bands instead of a ratchet pawl.

It's human nature to think the brand they bought is the best, but like I said earlier; I don't think it's possible to buy a "bad" winch.

That sounds like a nice winch, but some things to me just aren't an advantage.

For instance, I'd take "Wallenstein's style", of ratchet paul brake over bands ANY day...

The ratchet is much more positive, as in super strong, and NEVER needs adjustment or wears out.

But of course, some things are more important to one person than to another...

The automatic band brake is an security when winching in very step terrain, it's mandatory in Germany I think and maybe several other countries.

Does Igland/Norse sell the 3200 and 4200 series with this type brake in the US?

I've had the Fransgard V-3004 for ten years now, at ten cord/year still works good. It's better and stronger than the Wallenstein winch because I dont/never and or have to re-hook to the lower notches on the winch like the people do with the Wallenstein brand, I always pull logs/firewood from the main cable......

Can you explain this statement with some facts? I've been thinking of buying the Wallenstein FX110 and see folks hauling with the main cable. Also the Wallenstein's seem to offer more features than any other brands locally available to me.
