Oregon Drivers Can Now Learn To Pump Their Own Gas

If you drive an electric vehicle...when you go to the charging station...Do you have to allow an attendant to plug it in and unplug the vehicle?

At an older station credit card at the pumps. Pumping my gas and every time the ding dong on the other side of the pump tried to get one more quarter of a cent in to his tank, it would pop his autoshut off, then mine would pop off. I sure was happy once he got it to an even penny, so i could continue fueling. :laughing:

I’m sure the pump attendant is highly trained and is immune to the very unlucky event of something going wrong.

I was waiting for a pump at costco one day, old lady filling her tank withdrew the nozzle from her car, swung around shooting gas everywhere. It happens.

The local station does have mishaps...

Can be anything from driving off with the Nozzle accidentally to not be able to get fuel into the tank..

About every other month someone put Diesel into a Gas Tank... the opposite of Gas into Diesel was not a regular occurrence if ever...

I've personally known of several instances of someone putting gas in a diesel car or pickup; never personally saw the opposite.

I've also personally known of a couple of instances of someone driving off with the nozzle still in the filler cap.

And the last "accident" I've had was 2 or 3 years ago at the local QuikTrip station when the automatic nozzle did not cut off when the tank for full. Fortunately, I was standing close enough to grab it and only had a gallon or two spray out onto the pavement. I use the auto off, but don't fully trust them, so I stay close when pumping gas.

My brother filled his Mustang tank with Diesel back in High School... he called from a pay phone saying he blew the engine...

I roll up on the Interstate and he is really upset... I ask did it just happen and where had you come from... he said he just filled up the tank... I was thinking water??? as the car cranked.

Then he has a moment and said he used the Green nozzle... pumped it out and all was good.

In the Model A club... one of the more senior member was on a week long tour in Nevada... they topped off their tanks and started down the road... his car started to smoke and the group pulled off... it was long before it was determined Earl added almost 3 gallons of Diesel to 7 gallons of gas...

They put him in the back of the pack and kept the CB radios on...

At the Christmas Banquet the club presented him with a special award... he never lived it down because Earl was quite a good mechanic and helped out lots of club member...

The only straight gas I've seen is with Farm Equipment and more common with 2 stroke lawn and garden equipment...

A brand new Kubota BX was all torn down at the Dealer... the owner let his brother in law use it with 21 hours on the clock... they refueled with gasoline and the damage was significant...

We had someone try to help and they filled the empty tank on our B7500 with gasoline, fortunately, they figured it out before they started the tractor so we just had to drain the tank and replace the filter.
