LoL...Good luck to nyc in their effort to prove fault...The ONLY way it could happen is for corrupt judges/juries to falsely make awards...it's literally impossible to prove...
The case is moot...the only reason it's news is because nyc is using it as a way of getting publicity for removing oil stocks from their pension funds...i.e., a quasi-political statement...

BTW...why didn't the article you cited about glaciers mention the fact that 90% of the planet's glaciers are growing...NOT shrinking or melting??

Well I punched that into google and this is what I got:"While there are isolated cases of growing glaciers, the overwhelming trend in glaciers worldwide is retreat. In fact, the global melt rate has been accelerating since the mid-1970s."

Are glaciers growing or retreating?

And species have been noted moving their range north.

One can argue that Climate Change/Global warming is not man-made but common sense says it is long past time to quite claiming it isn't happening at all.
If there is anyone that has said the planet is not realizing changes to typical weather patterns and systems etc...they are nuts...!

Almost nine years ago when I first registered to post missives...(*there were climate change threads*) one of the first O/T posts I made was about how every year I was noticing the Surinam cherries blossoming earlier and earlier every year for several years and then a slight regression started...

Animals?...armadillos have been working their way north for a long time...There is a roadkill fossil record...ask any south route trucker...they call them "possum's on the half shell"...

* they used to throw you in the virtual slammer if you fudged on the rules back then...!

The origin of articles is always revealing as are the originators source's of information.

I really enjoy reading/watching articles on ancient aliens and their stone working ability. Now don't get too excited; I've also read the debunking side which usually have reference pages on the source of their data. It makes for relaxation.

Here is one we can all agree on!

When I was in school...learning to use a slide rule was taught as part of the (background) math curriculum for engineering students... a proper slide rule was on the requisite book/material list...

We actually had a slide rule course. I recall the prof. saying that when it was proposed, someone got up during the staff meeting and said "Why do we need a course in Slide Rule? I can learn to add and subtract on one of those things in 15 minutes!".
I think I still have my old bamboo Versalog hidden away in the book case somewhere.

This is a good example of why I don't believe in the science behind global warming. Those of us who doubt that it's real have reached that conclusion based on numerous lies about what is happening. Just like in this article, you pointed out where there is some doubt to what this person has to say based on what is written about the author. Lets say you are correct, and this author has an agenda that leads to his pushing an opinion instead of actual science. Knowing that, it's easy to dismiss what he has to say. But when scientist who are telling you that global warming is true do the same thing, they are believed regardless of their track record of lying? How are you able to research the validity of those who are against global warming, but not willing to do the same for those telling you it's true? And if you have read about the long list of lies from those pushing global warming, why do you still believe them?

OK, took me a DAY, but I got through all of these. Interesting reading, while some of you like to poke each other.

My two cents....I believe we are impacting our environment. You can call it global warming, climate change, WHATEVER. I DON'T see how *anyone* can say MAN isn't negatively impacting our environment.

Having said that, the real question becomes "how much has man negatively impacted our environment?"

THIS is where I believe blatant misinformation continues.

I do NOT believe this earth was created (I guess that would be another discussion, huh? :) ) to support 8 Billion people.

I do NOT believe it is healthy for this earth to have MILLIONS of people living in one clump together (NY, LA London, etc.)...these epicenters have massive amounts of pollution, etc. due to the population density.

What can MAN do about it? I guess the first thing would be NOT to have these population epicenters. But we ALL know that will never change. And this (IMHO) is where "politics" get dragged in. The "left" doesn't want to change their way, they want others to change.

I have NO issues with making changes to my lifestyle if I think it's PRODUCTIVE. We moved FROM the Dallas area to rural upstate NY. We bought 32 acres. We put in 26 solar panels. We have ALL LED lighting inside the house. We WANTED to go off-grid completely, but Tesla screwed us (another subject).

What I don't appreciate is someone telling me about climate change as they sit in a large city....etc. That's why I get a hearty chuckle when I read about "climate change conferences" where "everyone" flew in on jets, etc. to attend.

If we want to have BALANCED, PRODUCTIVE discussions, then we need to weed out the misinformation (on both sides) and focus on TRUE facts, not inflated ones designed to illicit emotional responses.
