Amazon and "alternative facts" - rant

I let them trap me again.

I usually try to search all other avenues before ordering from Amazon. The last thing I bought from them was ordered on Dec 26 and still did not show as shipped on Jan 6. I attempted to cancel the order that Saturday and they came back and said it couldn't be canceled because it was about to ship. They shipped it that Saturday and it arrived on Monday.

Last Sunday I ordered a radio for my truck and here it is Friday and it still doesn't show as shipped. I did google the model number on google and ebay and didn't find the one I wanted at the same or comparable price so I went ahead and ordered on Amazon. I didn't think to search Walmart and did that yesterday and found it for the same price. No guarantee it would ship any faster but I would have taken a chance on ANY seller before ordering from the unreliable Amazon.

No excuse for anything to sit in cue for 5+ working days without shipping. I guarantee they are just doing it because I won't pay for their stupid prime membership. For all I know they ordered the radio from china and are waiting for it to get stateside before showing it as shipped. I'd be willing to bet when I cancel they will not allow it to be canceled.

My latest order says it shipped today. Haven't tried the actual tracking number but it would most likely report the dreaded label created status. Only 6 days since order placed.

Well most of it arrived today. Still waiting on one piece that estimates next Wednesday so I can't install till then. Kills me they delay shipping almost a week then have USPS deliver on Sunday. Go figure?

Note, that Prime delivery is two days shipping time, not two days from when you order it. I have Prime packages take 2 to 3 days from what I ordered them when they shipped.

In my experience that is noted in the "ad" for the product. That it takes extra time to ship for whatever reason. IF there is no note to that effect I always get my email indicating things have shipped within 1 day.

Amazes me how many people rant about Amazon, yet continue to order from them. Amazon is what it is, either accept their business practices of shop elsewhere. As far as for Walmart, I find some of the pricing on Walmart.com to be much higher than can be found on other sites.

I don't subscribe to Amazon Prime, so when I occasionally place an order, sometimes it arrives within a few days or up to two weeks. Shipping and arrival time also depends upon whether an item is shipped from an Amazon warehouse or direct shipped from their supplier and how fast their supplier ships.

I started this thread because of a problem with Amazon's changing delivery times.

They are a very large organization trying to sere our greed for the lowest expenditure for "things".

I continue to buy from Amazon because I've found that if you complain enough and get to the right customer service rep
"You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime you find
You get what you need"

Their last screwup with me was my welding jacket affair.

I ordered a Bob Dale Gloves 601126X3L Welding Jacket Split Cowhide Brown Kevlar Sewn that was priced at $19.97, say $20. A quick look showed it dramatically below list. the X3L meant XXX size.

"It" arrived, it was a Bob Dale Gloves Welding Cape Sleeve Split Cowhide, medium. (The link shows a pearl, I got a brown)

Way too small, not a jacket, so I did a return for exchange. Didn't want my money, wanted the jacket.

They shipped me another identical cape at no charge, $0.00.

So I started the return process again. But this time the website indicated I would get $0.00 back, since I didn't pay for the one I was returning.

So I call Amazon (what a pain finding a phone number). After a long wait I finally get a CS droid.
Yes, I can return it and get my $20 back AND THEN BUY IT AGAIN AT THE $165 PRICE!!

I raised a stink. Got a a manager on the line, raised a stink with him. The best he would offer was the $20 back and buy it again at $165. I hung up.
For $20 I'd keep the cape for a gift.

The next day I get an email from the CS manager - he's refunding the $20 and sending another "jacket" in 3 large..

The other jacket gets to me. Again a cape medium. So I call him up AGAIN. End result he tells me to keep one cape and refunds my $$.

I got what I needed.
