Travis, what's the functional difference between this new 60" grapple, and the 60" Extreme Root Rake Grapple I bought? I'm talking about this one:
Tractor Loader Root Rake Grapple by Everything Attachments
p.s.: We're real happy with the one we got, just curious about any advantages with the new one.
Thanks,
Steve
I have answers already prepared for your question!
Our grapple has really grown, so we are really able to recommend the BEST grapple for a wide range of tractors and applications!
First, here is my description of a Root Rake style grapple, which pertains to both models.
The dozer-like tine geometry of the rake style promotes a tractor's ability to push the tines through the ground with ease.
The root rake style allows you to pull brush, vines and other debris backwards, which isn't recommended with many long bottom grapples. Besides pulling backwards, you can also pull down. Reach up and snap a limb off the tree if you feel like it.
The root rake style will easier "unload", so you can hover over the trailer, dumpster, pile, etc., open it up and whatever you've captured is gone!
Our
new 60" Wicked Root Rake Grapple has more tines, so the closer spacing will allow you to push up, rake back and hold onto finer debris. It features 3/8" AR 400 tines with Wicked serrations(top and bottom) and weighs right at 400 pounds. The opening is a bit wider, at 40" and we've decided to recommend it for compact tractors up to 65hp.
If the main objective is sinking the tines in the ground to rip roots and stumps, our
Xtreme Root Rake Grapple, like yours, has rigid 1/2" thick, longer, aggressive tines for all out root demolition! It also has fewer tines, so a tractor will be able to push it through the ground more efficiently. Having fewer upper and lower tines does make it less versatile for certain grappling needs such as handling finer, loose material such as hay/manure or split firewood. This is Ted's spin/enhancement of Bradco's compact grapple rake. The Ted built durability/rigidity give us the confidence to rate it for tractors up to 70HP.
