Saw this today. Popped the pic while stopped at a light.

Followed him about a mile. He almost lost it twice when hitting bumps.

The sad thing is that he probably paid more than what it would cost to buy it bulk. Lowes and Home Depot have been running specials on bags of mulch, and people around here are buying it up like it is a precious metal. That is a good deal compared to their normal price, but still awful expensive compared to the "per yard" place the various mulch companies in the area charge. For small amounts the bags are more convenient, but for as much as that guy in the pickup bought, he seriously overpaid. I saw people buying similar amounts last time I was at HD. I guess a sale is only a good deal when you don't know any better.

This load cost me $55. I bet that guy could have hired someone to deliver and spread that for less than he paid.

I agree. I can get a pickup bed rounded full for around $35 or my 16ft landscape trailer full for $55.

A landscaper is offering it for sale about 2 miles from my house. I keep forgetting to call and see what there prices are. Even if it's a few bucks more, I would make it up in gas savings considering it's a 30 mile round trip to where I usually get it from.

I was wondering when I took the picture, why he didn't snag a second pallet and put it on top of the load. Then strap it. Or at least have them shrink wrap the pallet at a minimum.

I bet he bought 2 less than a full pallet so threw them on there instead of taking two from a wrapped pallet.

Some landscapers here use bag mulch.

Same thing goes back in AZ. If a DOT guy saw that, the driver would be so far down a hole, they'd have to airmail him sunlight.

Up here, it's just another day in ND. See this stuff all the time. I'm not a fan of "Big Brother" looking over every part of our lives, but I do wish they'd tighten up DOT enforcement here.

I'll always prefer a happy [rational] medium to either anarchy or a police state...
