LS XG3025
Well the fun with my new LS XG3025 with grapple didn't last very long today. Picked up and moved one log and went back for the second one but the close function on the grapple did not work, the open function works fine. I'm thinking there is a problem with the rocker switch that works the diverter valve but not sure how to troubleshoot it. Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks

If you haven't, disconnect and reconnect your hydraulics for the grapple. Make sure they are both seated well. If that fixes your problem look to see is the hoses are too short when you fully dump you grapple.

It's either switch or diverter solenoid valve. If it's new in warranty call manufacturer, otherwise pull switch out enough to check with voltmeter. Mine I just looked at, 3 wires to switch so power in, then out one wire or the other when switched up or down. Diverter valve has two solenoids so power to one or the other via switch.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did as you said and still have the same problem, opens fine but will not close, hoses are not too short. Suspect electrical problem like the rocker switch. Thanks again.

It is in warranty so will call dealer on Tuesday. I'm sure your diagnosis is correct since all other hydraulic functions work fine. Thanks for your reply.

Bummer, just hoping for a quick fix.

Sounds like this isn't a diverter, rather a 3rd function.

Do the solenoid could show a light when powered?

LD1 the dealer called it a diverter valve but since I'm not familiar with the difference between a diverter valve and a 3rd function I'm at a loss. The wiring to the switch is the same as Fuddy1952 stated above, 3 wires. What suggests that it is a 3rd function? There is no light on the switch or valve. Thanks for your reply.

Well I have good news, actually great news. at 1845 hours (6:45 pm) I sent a text to my dealer who I was sure had closed up shop for the long weekend, but just a few minutes later he replied. He suggested that I really tighten down two screws on the plastic cover where the wiring goes to the valve. I did as he suggested and everything works great. apparently these screws provide the ground for the up and down solenoids. Thanks again for everyones suggestions.

Glad you got it going.

You have a 3rd function.

A diverter (or sometimes called selector)....it an electric solenoid, similar to what you have.....but rather than a rocker providing open/close action....the diverter just has a button that activates a solenoid. Push the button and nothing happens.....all it is doing is shifting a valve to allow one of your OTHER functions (like lift or curl) to divert to the grapple.

So IF you had a diverter....if one of the functions didnt work.....it also wouldnt work on its corresponding loader function.
