'Wolf-like' creature shot near Montana ranch puzzles experts - BBC News

US wildlife experts are baffled by a "wolf-like" animal that was killed by a Montana farmer.
The rancher near the town of Denton shot the creature last week when it came within several hundred metres of his livestock, said officials.
State wildlife experts said they have been unable to pinpoint its species.
After inspecting the creature, they said they doubt it's a wolf as its teeth were too short, front paws abnormally small and claws too large.

Never seen a wolf before but that a big animal compared to our 'yotes!

My money is on a dog/wolf hybrid.. I wish they would had gave its weight. They, this is not hybrids, routinely get over 100lbs. Rusty, I thought everyone had at least a few wolves.

The report I read said it was several hundred yards away but shot for being a nuisance. Something is either not right or not reported.

An inexpensive DNA test will tell you ancestry of a mixed breed dog. I doubt this guy's will allude experts for long.
