I haven't run across any wire clothes hangers in years. Well, tonight, I found them in 10 packs at Wal-Mart. They're coated with some flexible kind of plastic, vinal I guess. Most will go in the car, truck, etc. for emergency repairs. In the years I've been without them there have been many temp fixes I made when I've used something else and thought, clothes hanger wire would do a much better job.

Baling wire is so hard to find anymore, wire coat hangers will have to do.

I've had no luck at all gas welding exhaust pipes using baling twine.

Rolls of economical wire for trying rebar can be purchased at contractor supply houses. Very similar to baling wire if not the same. Most of the wire clothes hangers I see now are very thin and flimsy, sure miss the heavy gauge ones.

I've had to make do with rebar wire for many years. I get it at Lowes. It seems to be the same gauge as bailing wire.

Electric fencing wire comes in a few different gauges and is relatively cheap.

Second hand and thrift stores (salvation army, good will etc.) have always been a decent source for wire hangers...if there are none hanging around (NPI)...just ask they will save them for you...

I just yesterday got rid of a bunch of old clothes with the hangers, now I'm kicking my butt for not keeping the hangers.

Gas welded many exhaust with a coat hanger. Not much need for that now but mig works so much better. Last exhaust I welded was some low grade stainless header adapters to aluminized steel. Mig made a perfect, leak free, connection.

I've straightened out many a coat hanger for a quick fish wire. I feel bad now. I had no idea they were on the endangered species list.

I like those HD wire hangers. Wish I had a few dozen of them. The plastic and fancy wooden ones are just more poor quality consumer garbage.

I remember how my Dad used to take wire hangers back to the dry cleaner for a cent a piece.

I’ve thrown away hundreds of metal coat hangers. My work uniforms come on wire hangers and they add up pretty fast getting 10 a week.
