With only 8.5hrs on it this is a legitimate infant mortality special case. As an arms length business decision I'd say you have every right to insist on replacing the machine lock, stock and barrel right now. Is that the right thing to do? Not so sure. As someone else mentioned, IF IT REALLY WAS the front axle that seized per dealer comment AND if they replace that entire front axle... as a practical matter I'd be OK with that if I were in your shoes. For one thing, you have a well established record of all this with a Kubota dealer and I have no doubt the Co. will back it from here on. Not to worry.

Curiosity: Where are located ? All us inherently snoopy TBN posters will be looking forward to "the rest of the story" after the machine is fixed.

Now they are saying the axle was not replaced just rebuild. My understanding they where ordering a new axle. They wanted to deliver today even though I was at work. here are some pics of damaged pinion gear bearing and dont know what the other is. Keep You updated. 17583.jpg17584.jpg

With the misinformation on this I have to respond. I bought my tractor from this dealership who are topnotch guys and now that I am retired, I have been helping them out picking up and delivering tractors because they are so busy. I would have been the one to pick this tractor up , but I had other deliverys. I walked by this tractor for a few days while they were getting parts, which was overnight, and watched them do all of the repairs. The mechanic working on it is top notch and really cares about his work The front pinon bearing went bad from new, so the dealership replaced the complete front tube that the bearing is pressed into and all effected bearings and gears. Toby3219, there is no problem with the axle. It was the pinion bearing and all effected parts were replaced. You have a new front unit. So get your tractor and work it and enjoy!!

Seems like a rare kind of failure for a brand new tractor. Of course things happen. Be interesting to hear what the dealer says was the cause. "Went bad from new" is not an explanation but still very good of rkidd to speak up ! It seems they were on top of it and it should be OK. You've got LOTS of guarantee time left & on something like that you will know in the next 50 or 100 hrs if there is anything to be concerned about.

Thank you for your feedback. I am anxious to get my tractor back. Just want to know what caused the problem and you are right about the dealership and mechanic. They have been very good in this matter.

Hard to say for sure what caused the problem. New parts can sometimes be bad, or sometimes things arent machined exactly right. Good luck with everything.

Update. Tractor brought back on 6/29 and have put 29hrs on it brush hogging without issues. Although very difficult to disengage 4wd. Is that normal. I have to try several times for the lever to move. Note service has been great from the dealer. Thanks for comments and input. Will update as as I use the tractor.

My 2501 is tough to get out of 4wd too. Goes in easily. But due to bind in the system, will not come out. If you pick up the front end with the loader, you will see the tires turn a slight amount and the bind is gone. Shifts easily then.
