Slow Moving Vehicle Sign SMV is an accessory or comes with a new tractor?

In Maryland a dealer is required by law to equip sold farm machinery with an smv sign.

I would give him a call or better yet swing by there and advise him that the smv signs are required equipment in most states under the traffic codes if operated on the highway right of way... and that new tractors do come with one.... Then if he insists that it is still an accessory you must pay for just tell him that since he is not supplying you one that the first accident or ticket you receive for not having one he will be receiving a call not only from your lawyer but possibly the other parties lawyer and then he will receive a call from his lawyer and so on......you get my point......i have bought 2 new tractors in the past 12 months and both came with smv signs......no issue at all......

My JD 4105, the 'bare bones' model, came with a SMV mounted behind the seat. Standard equipment. Heck, even the ballast box (which was complimentary) has a full-size SMV decal. All came in early 2013.

BX, B, L, MX and M series Kubota tractors ship from the factory with SMV emblems, brackets and provisions on the tractor for mounting. Every single one. They are not accessories, and every Kubota that my shop predelivers leaves with one installed.

Given the space devoted to safety warnings in owner's manuals, I suspect that Kubota and other manufacturers want to cover all the bases when it comes to possible litigation over safety issues.

It sounds like you have a BAD dealer. Contact Kubota Customer Service at: 310-370-3370 extension 1844 and tell them what your dealer told you.

My L3301 Boita came with a SMV sign on it. If you are not taking it on the road pitch it to get it out of the way. I did just that and removed the pencil box so I could put a real tool box on that held more than a pencil and maybe a aspirin.



Also has hooks to hold a 3pt. draw bar and lynch pins when changeing equipment.

Box holds 6 wood splitting wedges, a clevis and draw pin, 2 quarts of bar oil, 2 14 foot logging chains and assorted wrenches and screw drivers.

My 2003 NH came with a SMV sign. All of the tractors on his lot had one.

All of my Kubota tractors were delivered with SMV signs.

Sounds like your dealer is not being honest with you. I would henceforth and forevermore question everything he says.
