Wow that would be nice.

I have to buy/put in the conduit from pole to transformer/house, with a pull rope. (and do all the dirt work) Then they come and put the wire in my conduit. Cost is 13,600.00 bucks and then they take possession of all the lines and conduit. That is using 1 transformer. If we put in 2 transformers (one for each house) then it's another 6 grand.

If it truly parlays into reducing your firewood needs, then I can surely see the benefit over years. But remember, just how many times firewood warms you up before you burn it??? I don't see much firewood in your scenic photos. It it over the hill?

From my house I can be cutting wood within 1/2 hour maybe 45 minutes.

My power company has been great to work with. They buried a cable 250ft from the powerline to my build site. Set the transformer pad. Set the meter and 400A disconnect. My side is split in two 200A circuits. One to the shop and one to the house. I had to pay $1200.

Excuse the mess. :)

That is amazing... truly a great deal...

My 400 amp service was installed by the power company direct burial in 1978... there have been 3 line breaks in the last 10 years... one leg dropped and I could go outside and hear the sizzle...

Power Company Owns to the transformer outside the house...

The last repair I was informed that it was time to replace the line... I said great... how soon will it happen?

Power Company said I have to pay for it!!!

I replied it has already been paid for once... they said since it is not in conduit it is a new install???

The quote to pull in Comcast to the same route was over 13,500... under ground boring...

Still moving along....slowly.

We poured the cement in the crawl space and have the building materials delivered. Minus the trusses, they will not be available until the end of the month. Plan is to build the floor and then get all the rest of the concrete work done while we wait for the trusses. Also get the septic system done.

Here's a few shots.

Side note; you can see the haze in the air from the fires burning all over the western states. It would be nice to get some big storms in to put out the fires and clean up the air. :)

I'm curious why a concreted crawl space as compared to a stand up basement?
I know in my case I have grown to dislike crawl spaces more and more as I've gotten older,
and with age, arthritis and a replacement knee crawls spaces are hard to get around in,
In my mind the cost difference wouldn't have been that much, or was it?

We simply do not need the space. It is only my wife and I, 1900 square feet should be enough. Furnace, water heaters and water softener will be on the main floor. No need to go in the crawl space at all. The concrete was to make sure no rodents could get in the house.

We did debate/consider a basement for some time. (the plans we had drawn up showed a basement) I was also concerned about ground water.

What kind of height are you looking at in the crawl space?

I have seen some very usable space with 6'

Should have a height of 4'5". Certainly enough if I had to get down there for something.
