Just got a new Mahindra 1626 Tractor, and I cant seem to make a decision on what type of grapple I like best. Mainly looked at EA and Artillian grapples but not opposed to others, I should be able to get free shipping to where I work. I'm just curious what grapples you use with your "mid" compacts, and why you like them/dislike them. What do you use your grapple attachments for primarily? I like the design of the Artillian grapples but I have no need for a modular mounting system. And they seem to be a bit pricey. There are a lot of options with EA but I don't really know which one I like the best, not to mention its roughly 3-4 months before it would be delivered; not that I'm in a hurry to get one. So what grapple to you have and what do you use it for!? Pictures are welcome! Not limited to what I have listed below.

I purchased a Titan 72” Root Grapple packaged with 48” pallet forks-very happy with both the service from Titan and the apparent quality of the implements.

You can't get good grapple advice without telling us what you plan to use it for. I use a Forestry Grapple, which works better than anything else I've used moving logs in the wood and maneuvering in tight quarters. It works rather well at cleaning up the limbs and brush I trim off the trees I've felled as well. Now that I've used it, I would not be without it for those tasks. However, it stinks for other applications where different designs really shine (fortunately, my need for other applications is rare).

You might try a search for other threads on grapples. There are some very good, detailed discussions on here.

I have a 60" two lid EA Wicked grapple for my Branson 3725. It works well for picking up multiple logs or large piles of brush. It's not so good at picking up firewood rounds but I don't know if any other grapple design would be significantly better.

I would've bought the EA but the lead time didn't work for me.

Bought the Land Pride SGC0660 for my L2501 and have been very pleased with it for the woods clearing etc that I'm doing.

It took me a few years to decide on grapple type. Finally settled on a brush and debris (short lower tines) type. I have no trees and although I have lots of rocks I don't move them much. I need the ability to run below grade to rip out brush by the roots and then carry it to a brush pile.

So, your needs should drive your decision on type.

Cost and perceived value will drive your brand decision.

You'll love having a grapple whatever you get. :)

I had a clamshell style for my first grapple and it was better than no grapple.

I now have the dual lid L bottom or what some call root style and like it much better for picking up brush, trees, big rocks and anything else that needs picking up.

From your list, I would recommend this one for your tractor:

My 66" Wicked root grapple v2.0 came in this week. I'm sure it will be my favorite attachment going forward. I've been plucking rocks, digging roots and popping trees out of the ground. There is so much you can do with it. There's a wait for it and their ETA is accurate now.

After thinking about what kind and what brand of grapple to get for a long time, finally about two weeks ago I decided to get this Land Pride 54" lightweight grapple. Should have got it long ago. It is well matched to the work I need to do, clearing out undergrowth and roots, and getting rid of crud left behind by a previous owner.

25 hp tractor: I'd get the lightest one I could afford. Every lb of grapple = one less lb of cargo/lift.

I have a 48' single lid and have never regretted it.
