Got my concrete guy scheduled for this coming Friday ! He came out to look at the barn this morning. Going with 5" 4,000psi, fiber mesh and some rebar, saw cut expansion joints and trowel finish all for the low price of $4,600. It will be less if it doesn't take the 27 yds he quoted me, he just doesn't like to run short since the ready mix plant is 45 minutes away. He has been doing it for 30 years. I did have another concrete guy come out yesterday. He does mainly big parking lots, building slabs etc. He must have thought I had gold in my wallet....his price was $13,000 !!! There is only 1 ready mix plant in the area as we live somewhat remote in the mountains, which is why it is hard to find contractors or anyone with building skills to come out this far....so you pay alittle more for deliveries and skills. The concrete is $125.00 a yard and they consider anything less than 10 yds a 'light load' which adds a $125 fee if under 10 yds ! I have always paid light load fees for anything under 5 yds, but I have to remember where we live ! Got all the stone put in today, will rent a plate compactor on Monday to vibrate and pack it down.
