Kubota l3940 help

First thing first. I need help getting out of 4 wheel drive. I have tried reverse,rocking it and lifting the tires, nothing will free it up.
Second I am looking to purchase a grapple bucket with a rock bucket. I will use this for gathering all the trees and debris that gets pushed to the sides of trails for food plots. I would like the tines in the bucket to be able to scoop up 3in and bigger rocks. What size bucket should I get so that the tractor is able to lift with a full bucket. I think 72in is to big,this tractor struggles sometimes just lifting some dirt.
Third I would like to get a root and tree bucket to pop up the stumps left in my trails after clearing. And it looks like I can use it for putting in some watering holes and planting some trees.
Not sure if that made sense but if you have some suggestions or could send me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

You don't list where you live so that more local members might know your problems better.

I have found that the longer I leave mine it in 4wd, the harder it is to get it out of 4wd. What I now do is make sure that I take it out of 4wd each time I park it.

Assuming HST - Does the lever work? CAREFULLY inspect the entire path for the linkage. I've had mine "hang up" where a cable went through a tube. Squirting Fluid Film for lubrication fixed it.

Are fluid levels fine?

Did you let it "warm up"?

I shift mine outof 4wd while moving slowly. The gears landing let's the mechanism move to eventually pop free no matter what the bind. I'd imagine lifting the front end off the ground would be the ideal solution there as there can't really be any drivetrain bind at that point. That kind of leaves a jammed linkage you need to free up & probably lube up. After that it kind of only leaves internal damage.

Yes it's a HST. Fluids are all fine and tried it hot and cold.

Might try backing up a couple of feet, then pulling forward a bit, then try to get out of 4x4.

The owner's manual says to, "Depress the clutch pedal before engaging the front wheel drive lever." And, "If the front wheel drive lever is difficult to set to OFF, stop the tractor, turn the steering wheel and move the lever."

I had a similar problem on my L4240;dealer lubricated the linkage and that solved the problem.

All fixed, lubed the heck out of it and it popped out.

The Grand L 60 HST machines (40s too I think) have no clutch. ;-p


Good to hear it was just a lack of lube on the linkages though. Seems to be the most common issue in these type of situations. Also happens to be the cheapest & easiest fix.
