E15 gas

Not trying to be funny, didn't folks in Mexico riot over tortilla prices when our government pushed e85 a few years ago? Shortly after, they stopped the big project trying to make it so available.

If you read a e85 capable vehicles manual, it requires special oil and filter with shorter change intervals. Not just supposed to all willy nilly switch between the 2.

Too bad we can't eat coal. It was darn good for producing electricity, especially on short notice. Our power grid is currently taking a turn toward being less reliable because of coal plant shutdowns. The new combined cycle natural gas, wind, solar and nuclear are good for the environment but aren't good for sudden demand changes.

Even a 3/4 ton can be bought for very close to 30K... Not long ago I priced one out...

We had this discussion very recently in another thread, but it's hard to point it out to somebody who doesn't want to listen. I would love to have a nice Diesel Dodge, but will end up with something like an F150 for around 30K if I buy a new truck. I hope to retire in a few years, and don't plan to spend it trying to keep a truck running.
Yes, the price of trucks are higher than they were 35 years ago; but there are very few things that aren't including wages. While most consumer goods are becoming throw away items, automobiles today are lasting longer with less maintenance.

Who says you have to pay 70K for a new truck??

A pretty nice full size NEW 4x4 pu can be bought today for under 30K and yes that's still too much!

All you have to do is buy a nice WORK TRUCK and stop trying to get one nicer than the neighbors!!

My point was referring to average new vehicle buyers and auto manufacturers sustainability.

The average new vehicle buyer, does not buy base models, rarely puts money down, and often is upside down in their current vehicle.

There comes a point when the average buyer can no longer afford the payments of buying a new car. They are no longer a new car buyer.

This is happening more often and the number of qualified buyers is dwindling.

So now the government is trying to step in to force people like me, who are not new car buyers but can afford to be, to buy a new car.

Once again the Government is trying to pick the winners and losers.

To me, that goes right back to the need to "keep up with the Joneses." They aren't forcing you to do anything. Somebody has to buy a new car before you can buy a used one. The real problem is that people are living beyond their means, which in the long run isn't good for the nation's economy.

If I can no longer buy the proper gasoline for my current vehicle, then I am forced to either buy a new one or go without.

And there are 10's of millions of us out there in the same situation.

This is all in an effort to prop up big agriculture and big auto.

OK, whatever. I've been hearing the gloom and doom since unleaded gas was implemented 40+ years ago, yet still keep on finding fuel for my vehicles. While I do buy no-ethanol for my small engines, the worst damage to an auto engine that I have ever seen was when my father knocked a hole through the converter in his '77 Ford thinking that it would allow him to run leaded fuel from his bulk tank. The converter still kept trying to do it's job and almost burned the car up one day out on the interstate.

I already have a 92 truck with manual windows, manual locks, and pretty much zero other bells and whistles. Why would you buy a new truck that’s pretty the same as an old one? In all honesty power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and AC are all the luxury features I want in a vehicle.

Who said you had to give up power windows, door locks, power mirrors and AC?

You aren't very well informed...
