Most of my meat is raised on a farm why should fish be any different.
It is sad that there is no quality seafood places close by. I do know a good catfish place. But there was a shootin there about a week or so ago.

Definitely healthier than fried fast food options.

As far as the salmon goes omega 3痴 are pretty much equal to wild. Environmental issues are debatable. For consistency/price/ value, farmed gets the nod IMO.

Of course there痴 much more to the debate than this....
People with heart conditions are advised not to eat farm raised fish, as the antibiotics interfere with their heart meds. The same is true for animals raised in feedlots though, so it's a wash. If the rest of us regularly ate the meal that Big Barn just posted the overall population would be much healthier, and less obese.

Never got a bad piece of fish at Capt Ds. Hopefully you just walked in on a bad day.

Thank you, Bird.

I壇 never even heard of Captain D痴 before. Are they just in Eastern states?

I'm not sure how wide spread Captain D's is, but we've eaten in them in West Virginia AND Texas.

We had one Captain D's that I can remember. I think it's been gone for 15 years. We go to Long John Silvers maybe a couple times a year at most. We used to call them Long Thin Slivers when they gave less generous portions.

Guess Ill go to Long Johns from now on.

Never heard of a Captain D's anywhere, and I have traveled quite a bit. In Northern California, we used to have a number of Long John Silvers. That chain declined pretty rapidly at one point. Before I cleaned up my eating habits, I would eat there. Then during the chain's decline it got so horrible even I wouldn't go. :yuck:

My wife and I saw one the other day-- first time we realized the chain didn't go entirely bust.

And, here in CA, most folks find it hard to eat slippery sea food while they are hugging a tree ... :D

If anyone’s interested, over on Garage Journal there’s a great ongoing thread “Let’s get healthy ‘cause we’d like to play with our tools when we get old”

There was a Long John Silver in Lewisville that we traded at occasionally. It sold, the building was torn down, and something new in its place. But I think there's still one in Denton. And while we don't have a Captain D's close to us, there are at least 4 in Dallas and northern suburbs. The closest one to us is in Plano.

PLOWHOG - that is a FANTASTIC one liner - - "here in CA, most folks find it hard to eat slippery sea food while they are hugging a tree". I read that and laughed right out loud - scared my sleeping puppy - he woke with a loud bark. I shan't soon forget that one............

The Captain D's out here all got shut down by the health dept. They never reopened. Most of them became Churches Chicken
