In those cases, it may be a question of when were the dues due?
On some mornings, you may ask, when is the dew due?
Which of course is entirely different from deep doo-doo.
Coincidentally that may be what you're in if you didn't know the dues due date.

That's a lot of dues. Methinks that you have exceeded your allotment of two dews, too.

Note: Although the Oxford Concise specifically says that a 'wether' is a castrated ram... online dictionaries note that it can also be applied to a castrated goat.
Well, if you are a goat, it still hurts just as much.

I just saw something in a post I've seen all too often. It was about a scene they'd seen. I saw the poster say 'I seen'. It was a cool scene though. Not like the log I'd sawn earlier by placing one trunk over another in see-saw mode to keep my saw out of the dirt.

There used to be kind of a thing when a fire company arrived on scene and reported a 'small dwelling fire'. Question was, is it a small fire in a dwelling, or a fire in a small dwelling?

Many years ago, the local radio station used to have a police officer come into their studio every week. He would carefully read out a list of items that had been found and handed in to the police station.

Most times he would say something like that they had a "green lady's bicycle" or a "blue man's leather wallet".

We always thought it shouldn't be too hard to find the green lady or the blue man and give them back their stuff!:D

John Denver sang "A fire softly burning supper on the stove". Then they went out for pizza.
It's amazing what one little comma can do.

That reminds of the local radio station who would do accident reports: "The car failed to negotiate the curve and went off the road...." Were there lawyers and agents involved? Offers & counter-offers? (....I mean before the accident?)

Seems like going off the road WAS the outcome of the negotiation.

Let's discuss "affect" and "effect."

My wife, a school teacher, always is after me for using "good" when I should use "well". This summer she asked me why the sprinklers were not running and I explained that the "good" was dry.
