Should I add it? Can't think of any use for me, don't need a snow blower, but only $377.00, or can you add later easily. Watch all those messick videos about snowblowing for a loaded grand l5460, I've put almost ever option it.
It depends upon the model that you have.
Yes, a mid PTO can be installed after build on all models upon which it is an available option but it is not cost effective to do so on some models because some require a split.
Two years ago, I bought a GK6060 ROPS.I usually buy ROPS tractors to allow worry free operation beneath trees, etc.
I considered a mid PTO upon purchase even though I had no need for one at the time. My salesman told me that it could be easily installed later for about $650. As it turns out, this is true for cab models but not ROPS models. For whatever reason, Kubota has decided to build GL ROPS tractors without the internal shaft needed to mount a mid PTO. Installing the mid PTO is easy but installing the internal shaft and gear requires a split making after build installation non cost effective. A similar situation exists for the B3350SU and, probably, others.
Earlier this year, I stumbled across a very good on a sold but unused snow blower for a GL6060. Though I did not really need it, it was such a good deal that I would have bought it anyway. This is how I found out about the internal shaft/gear.
Verify your application with Kubota and do not take your salesman's word.
I would just pay the $377 and get it. There is no downside other than cost and a small reduction in ground clearance. Ground clearance is why I did not buy it for my GL6060.
